Everyone always says that time heals everything. I've never found that to be true. There are some wounds that time couldn't even begin to heal. It could be a number of many different things.

For example: Grief. Rather it be grieving over someone in your life that you lost, or even grieving for yourself and the person used to be. A version of yourself that you so badly long to get back.

No amount of time that passes truly heals everything you carry on your shoulders. After a while, it may seem like it's gotten easier to live with, but the truth is that it never actually gets easier. You just learn to cope with it better, or find ways to hide it with every day that goes by.

You can go about a very normal day and see or hear something that makes you think of someone who used to be in your life, and for some reason, on a casually good day, you'll find yourself bursting into tears.

There will be times where you'll think you're over something or that you're done grieving for a person who is still very much alive, but has caused you so much pain. You'll go weeks, months, or even years without seeing or speaking to them. You will think the unresolved feelings are gone. Then you run into them again.

You see them face-to-face for the first time in what feels like forever since they broke you and took a piece of you with them when they left.

It will be in that moment, you realize that those feelings you thought no longer existed, are in fact still there. Because for whatever reason, all it takes is one glance at each other for those feelings to come flooding back faster than you can blink.

In that moment, you start to think about all the things they've missed out on in your life since they left and realize that even though they ruined you and took what should've been the best years of your life away from you, you still find yourself realizing how much you actually miss them and their presence in your life.

Even though they healed you at one point when you felt like you were drowning, they also took everything that they knew, and used that to destroy you even worse later on down the road. But despite that, the biggest piece of your heart will always be theirs...and that might just be one of the saddest truths I've ever told.
