Cupid's Assistant

Prologue

Million years ago. On one particle day, Cupid decided to mess around and created a catastrophe and ruined the balance of peace in the mortal world, forcing every single mortal to fall in love and causing them to be crazy in love, doing all sorts of harm to one another to obtain that so-called love. As punishment for causing a disturbance in the mortal world, he was punished by the authorities.

A new rule was in place which no longer allowed Cupid to shoot anyone with his bow to force anyone to fall in love with another to prevent that disaster from happening again. Thus leading Cupid to now, guide one's love to another. However, dealing with this all by himself was too hard for him to manage alone, so he soon created little workers, also known as Cupid's assistants, to help spread love.
So that being said, I am one of the many, many Cupid's assistants.

The name given to me was Xiaodan, which means little dawn. Supposedly, the main reason I was named Xiaodan was because every time I smiled, the helpers couldn't help but feel a great warmth inside them as if I were their little light for the day. Hence, my name was Xiaodan.

Like the rest of the millions of Cupid's assistants, I don't have a surname. We were all made from little specs that flow in the air, and where we were made from is the designated area we are assigned to work at, as my assigned area is in the region of China.

However, before we became Cupid's assistant, we were nourished and cared for by helpers until we were able to transform from baby immortal to adult immortal ourselves. Thus, the kind helpers were the ones who named us.

Once we are able to reach adulthood, we can either be a helper or Cupid's assistant. Helpers are workers who work for Cupid's assistants. Their job is to help assist Cupid's assistants in doing their duties. They can be either caretaker, who helps raise Cupid's assistants to adulthood, or an administrator, who helps delegate Cupid's assistants' assignments.

We are given a test to see if we are destined to be a helper or Cupid's assistant. All along, I always assumed I would be a helper like Auntie Bai, Auntie Li, Auntie Ai, and Auntie Mei. They are the helpers who raised me. However, when I took the test, the result stated I was destined to be a Cupid's assistant.

Our job as Cupid's assistant is to go down to the mortal world and assist our assigned people to fall in love with each other. We can do any possible thing to help those two people fall in love, but we can not force any sort of supernatural means for those two people to fall in love.

For instance, we can be that friend that helps bond the two people together or a counselor to help kindle a married couple or even create coincidences for the two people to meet. There are many possibilities.

We have three sets of levels: first, mid, and high. The higher the level, the more difficult it becomes. Our assigned level corresponds to our age. The older we are, the higher the level.

Even though we help two people to fall in love, it doesn't mean they are soulmates. That is up to Fate to decide. We simply follow our order to help the two people we are assigned to fall in love, and once they fall in love, the rest is up to them.

However, there are rare instances where two people who aren't destined to be, find their way without any help and fight against all odds to be together. Those rare instances truly fascinate us...
