Xiaodan wore a black cap to cover her markings and sat with the others at the cafe. She had a mask on her face. She coughed here and there. While everyone was chatting and working on the assignment, Xiaodan laid her head down on the table beside her laptop. She started thinking about how she would get University B when she didn't have any money. Unusually, she would pop out cash from her bracelet, but since that wasn't working, she had nothing.
"Hey, are you okay?" Wu Mingze asked, leaning somewhat close to her.
Xiaodan cleared her throat and slowly nodded her. "Yeah, I'm fine," she answered.
"You don't look fine," Wu Mingze said, reaching his hand out to her head. She tried to move her head to stop him from accidentally seeing her markings, but he already slipped his hand under her cap and placed his hand on her forehead.
"I'm fine. Just tired," Xiaodan tried to assure him as she once again tried to move her head away from his hand. However, his hand moved with her.
"You're burning up," he said, cornered.
She coughed, "Just a little."
"Did you take any medicine?" He asked.
"Yeah," she quickly responded, but she lied. She knew medicine didn't work on her.
"When," he asked.
"This morning," she lied again.
He went quiet for a minute, his lips tightening with his hand still on her forehead.
"Then why hasn't the medicine kicked in yet?" He mumbled to himself.
"Maybe you should head back and rest," he said.
Immediately, Li Chyou glanced at them as she was half listening to their conversation.
"I agree. You don't look well. Let's head back," Li Chyou said.
"Fine, but you can stay here. I can go back on my own," Xiaodan said with a smile. She had noticed that Li Chyou and Feng Yichen were sitting by each other, and Li Chyou would reach over and point at certain things to help Feng Yichen focus.
"But-," Li Chyou tried to say.
"No worries, I'm capable of going back on my own," Xiaodan said, grabbing her stuff. She also thought it was a perfect time to head to University B and find MengYao.
"I will go with you," Wu Mingze said, preparing to pack his stuff.
"No. It's okay," Xiaodan quickly said. "I'm fine," she said again.
Wu Mingze looked reluctant and opened his mouth to say something, but Xiaodan interrupted him.
"Um," she softly said. "Can I borrow some money for the transit? I'll repay you as soon as possible," Xiaodan hesitantly said.
Wu Mingze was slightly surprised by her request but instantly took out money.
"No worries. Here," he said, handing money to her. "But I will come with you," he said, standing up.
"No. It's fine," Xiaodan rejected him again. "I want you to stay here and tell me how the process is when I'm not here," she whispered to him, making an excuse. He glanced at them and then to her eager eyes. He took a deep sigh and agreed.
