Feng Yichen coldly looked at her before saying, "What?"

Li Chyou clenched her hand and continued, "Why...don't you live for yourself? To show yourself that you can do well on your own with your own efforts."

She couldn't help but think about herself in this instance. She knew she had caring relatives who loved her and was willing to help her but she didn't want that. She wanted to be able to stand on her own with her own efforts.

Immediately, his eyes turned dark cold, "What do you know?"

He remembered he did everything for his parents. He studied hard for his parents and did his best in everything for his parents. Until that year, he was studying abroad. He was the top student, and soon rumors started spreading that he was cheating or buying his way up as his classmates were jealous of him. They mocked and insulted him. He soon couldn't stand it anymore and had a massive fight with them, beating them to the ground. When his parents arrived due to the disturbance he caused, his father slapped him in the face as his father only cared about the reputation he had ruined, while his mother was making a fuss about how great he was or how he would never do such a thing...

He soon realized he was like a puppet for his parents that could be tossed away if it wasn't good enough.

"I don't...but at least you can say that you are doing this for yourself," Li Chyou awakened him from his thought. His heart trembled, but he quickly hardened it before scoffing.

"If...you need any help with your studies. I can help," Li Chyou stubbornly said, refusing to give up.

Feng Yichen weirdly looked at her, "Why?"

With one eyebrow raised, he said, "Why are you willing to help me? What's in it for you?"

Li Chyou didn't understand his questions but answered without hesitation, "Because you are Haoran's friend."

He was baffled

"Also, how can you get your degree without getting good grades? You need to get good grades, so you can get your degree. Then you can live for yourself and choose how you want to live," she started lecturing him.

Feng Yichen looked at her firm eyes as he was still baffled but also amused. He couldn't believe she thought that he needed help with his studies. He was the top student all his life until he decided it was no longer worth his time.

"Alright. Fine, try your best," he said plainly. He thought if she desperately wanted to try, then go for it. He was interested to see how long she would last.
