Xiaodan walked into the community courtyard. It was an open courtyard with pure white tiles on the floor and tall stone pillars forming a circle around the community courtyard. Each stone pillar had small tables and chairs for people to lounge around.

Xiaodan made her way to her usual spot; her juniors greeted her as she walked by. Despite working on the same level of cases as her juniors, they still treated her as their senior.

Once she reached her table, she sat down and stared into the empty space as she felt a little absent-minded. However, it didn't take long before she snapped out of her thoughts as a beautiful young lady with a sleek bob haircut sat in front of her. The stunning woman possessed a gentle, mature aura. She noticed that the striking woman had her eyebrows furrowed and looked quite exhausted.

"You won't believe the day I had today. It was simply exhausting," the lady said, looking at Xiaodan.

"Let me guess, no process whatsoever," Xiaodan answered with a tender amusement in her voice.

The stunning lady instantly sighed in response as if Xiaodan's answer was correct.

"Like why are they so difficult? Just get together already. How many more days will I have to work on this case? It's exhausting," the lady said, putting her elbow on the table before leaning her forehead against her palm.

"MengYao, you know mid-level cases always take a while to complete. It's not a first-level case." Xiaodan said. Immediately, MengYao's expression slightly changed.

"Xiaodan, I-I didn't...," MengYao tried to say, as she and Xiaodan were the same age and should be doing the same level cases.

Xiaodan instantly laughed at her friend's expression.
"MengYao, you don't always have to feel like you have to avoid the topic and make the atmosphere so awkward. It's fine. I'm fine-no need to beat around the bush. The past is the past. What is done is done."

"I know...," MengYao said, but then she abruptly sighed in an upset tone, "I still don't understand. You didn't intend for that to happen. Shouldn't they lessen the punishment?"

Xiaodan couldn't help but smile at MengYao, "I believe this is a lenient punishment. Even though I didn't intend that to happen, it still happened. I should have been aware of my surroundings."

"Still. It wasn't your fault, it happened," MengYao's eyebrow frowned again.

Before Xiaodan could try to calm her friend for being upset on her behalf, a young man who seemed to be a little older than them walked up to them.

"Senior Zixin," Xiaodan said, noticing him. Senior Zixin was three hundred years older than them.

Senior Zixin had a small light smile on his face and held a creamy white folder.

"What are you two up to?" Senior Zixin asked. He noticed MengYao's slight grim expression.

"How's your case going?" Senior Zixin smiled at MengYao, fully aware of how her case was going.

"Ha.Ha. Very funny, Senior Zixin," MengYao plainly laughed in an unfriendly tone as her expression did not change. Senior Zixin just flashed a sweet smile, with his eyes also lighting up in a smile.

"What brings you here?" Xiaodan asked, tilting her head.

"Ah, yes." Senior Zixin said as if he had almost forgotten the main reason why he was here in the first place.

"The reason why I'm here was to give you this." He handed the folder to Xiaodan.

She furrowed her eyebrows before taking the folder. "What's this?" she asked.

"It's your new case," Senior Zixin answered.

"My new case? Why are you handing it to me instead of Auntie Mo?" Xiaodan said, opening the folder. Immediately, her eyes widened.

"What's the meaning of this?" she said, looking up at Senior Zixin.

"Looks like you're back on mid-level cases now," Senior Zixin said with a small smile.
