From then on, Xiaodan continued her efforts to bring Li Chyou closer to Feng Yichen. However, no matter what she tried, Wu Mingze would always interject. It didn't take long for Xiaodan to notice that Wu Mingze would always get in the way, and soon, Li Chyou and Wu Mingze were on a friendly basis, while Li Chyou and Feng Yichen had nothing.

Xiaodan looked at Li Chyou, who was doing her homework in the library. Xiaodan felt like she had made no progress on her assignment as she laid her face down on the book she was currently reading.
Every time she went to the library with Li Chyou, she would read romance novels since she didn't need to do any homework but needed something to do to pass the time. She was always fascinated by reading romance novels and liked to see how mortals tell love stories."Xiaodan, are you okay? Are you feeling sick?" Li Chyou asked, looking up from her homework and noticing Xiaodan with her head down.
"Yeah....," Xiaodan answered back in a dead voice as if she had no hope left.
"Hmm, wait here. Let me get some water for us," Li Chyou said, setting her pencil down.
"Alright," Xiaodan said and weakly waved goodbye to Li Chyou. Once Li Chyou left, Xiaodan took a deep sigh. "Maybe I should head back and see if MengYao has any idea to help me with this assignment?" she muttered to herself.
She then remembered how Wu Mingze was always getting in the way and getting close to Li Chyou instead. At that moment, Xiaodan felt something was not right.
"Wait, don't tell me...does he have feelings for Li Chyou?" Xiaodan immediately lifted her head off the book.

Li Chyou was coming back from the convenience store and heading to the library with two bottles of water in her hands. Li Chyou made a turn but then stopped in her tracks.
A sharp, crisp slap was heard.
"Why didn't you come to the dinner party," a bony, refined middle-aged woman harshly said.
"Is that all you came for?" Feng Yichen said sarcastically with his left cheek bright red as he looked at her with empty eyes.
"Did you know how stupid I looked when you didn't show up? With that homewrecking mistress and her filthy son there, I was like a complete stranger in my own home!" the woman raised her voice.
"Did you know how everyone was praising her son for being so smart and being the top student in his foreign university!" she screamed.
"And?" Feng Yichen said, uninterested.
"What does that have to do with me," he said nonchalantly.
"If you didn't cause that disturbance and were forced to leave, then it would have been you!" Her face was fuming in anger.
"Why does that matter? I'll still get my degree here even if I'm passing with the bare minimum. You will have something to boast about, while father will see that so-called result. Pretty good enough," he said dully.
The woman was silent.
"If that's all you have to say. I'm off," Feng Yichen said, leaving.
Once he turned around the corner, his eyebrows raised as he saw Li Chyou awkwardly standing there.
"How much did you hear," he said in a low voice.
