"Ky cmon now we go through this every morning" A'Vayah said and she flipped the covers off of Ky'Mani and opended his blinds

"I'm sleepy momma" he wined kicking his feet

"You always sleepy, and if you so sleepy why use energy you don't have to kick ya damn feet in the air now get up. Your close over there when I come back have em on" she said leaving out his room

"Get on my nerves" Ky mumbled but A'Vayah heard him

"Mumble again and watch how fast you get popped on the mouth, you not grown lil boy" she said walking down the hallway and Ky mugged the wall

Walking into her living room was a sleeping dame on her couch. She ignored his presence and turned on the lights going into the kitchen and preparing Ky's lunch box and signing needed papers

"Damn you just said fuck my sleep huh?" Dane joked going to grab some orange juice from the fridge

"I don't care about you or your sleep, I care about my son getting to school on time" A'Vayah shrugged putting everything back in Ky backpack

"Ooo lemme come with you to drop him off, I can drive my car behind you" A'Vayah sighed walking down the hall back to Ky

"If you coming put on a shirt or something" she walked back in Ky's room seeing him struggle to tie his shoes

"Cmere Ky" Dame said standing in the doorway

A'Vayah made his bed then went in the bathroom and prepared his tooth brush while dame tied his shoes

"Now go brush to teeth and do some to them nappy ass braids" he joked making both A'Vayah and Ky mug him

"Here so I can moisture your hair" she handed him his toothbrush and he brushed his teeth

A'Vayah moisturized his hair and Damien went to get dressed waiting for them to finish

After serving at the school both parents parked, Ky rode with his dad as always

The parents went in school and walked him to class he immediately ran inside his classroom leaving them to play with friends

"He said fuck us huh?" Dame mumbles making A'Vayah shake her head and laugh as they walked out the building

"Don't have nobody in my house" A'Vayah held her finger up at Damien and he mugged her

"Stop playing wimmie yo" dame gently pushed her hand down

"Ion care what you do just not at my house, it's called respect" A'Vayah shrugged

"You really working a nerve A'Vayah" dame replied to her comment he never called her by her government name so A'Vayah didn't know how to react to that

"I gotta get to work, he needs to be picked up from the same spot at 2:15" dame nodded allowing her to get in her car and drive off to her salon

Alexis and A'Vayah both had their cosmetology and esthetician license so they opened a shop together and were making great money

They have 3 other girls working with them, Alexis mostly did facials and occasionally nails, while A'Vayah did hair with occasional facials and the other girls pretty much did whatever they wanted

She entered the shop seeing everyone at work and booked

This gay couple came in for joint facials so A'Vayah and Alexis set up the room so they could knock them out at the same time

"So how's the boys?" Lexi said being nosy and tryna slick be funny

"Girl, on my nerves" she rolled her eyes making sure all her materials were laid out

"So what's the tea on you and Dame as off now?" Lexi laid out towels while getting the wet ones ready

"Uhm.. the same.." Vee shrugged confused as to what she was asking

"So you telling me your baby daddy that you miss and love so bad been living with you for a week and you ain hit yet" Lexi asked looking at her crazy

"No. And I don't miss him, I miss what we had there's a difference" Vayah replied getting her creams outs

"You ain deny that you love him" Lexi slightly mumbled making Vee look at her sideways

"I'm just saying" she held her hands up in surrender position

"Of course imma love him, he's the first actual person I loved and he's Ky's dad on top of that. He was and still is a protector and provider for us he's just stubborn and I don't want that lifestyle for my son simple" A'Vayah told her which she was being honest about but still those words coming out her mouth she slightly didn't even believe if that was the true reason she still loved him

"Well, since he's back and you know him and Chase all buddy buddy we should all go out and take the kids to do some fun and then drop them off with Daja and go out to eat somewhere nice" Lexi suggested as she checked everything on her checklist

"Ill see and get back to you by Friday" avayh said making sure to not make her any promises

"Ok, lemme go get out clients" Lexi went to grab the couple

They did their facials and recorded it for their business TikTok page. After that Lexi did two short nail sets and A'Vayah did a few wigs and one retwist

After looking at the clock it was 5:00 she didn't realize how the time has flew by

"Alright yall I'm heading home" she said after cleaning up her stations everyone said goodbye and she went home seeing Dame had cooked for for Ky and left a plate wrapped up for her

"Where's Ky?" She asked noticing it was too quiet and dame was sitting in the living room on his phone

"Taking a shower, I took him to play basketball after we did his homework. So you need to hurry up and eat cause I told him we'd watch a movie" dame told her without looking up once

"Ok... thank you" she said hesitantly not sure how to feel in this moment

"Mhm" he hummed

Vayah ate then washed the dishes that Dame had left for her. Ky came out dressed in his pajamas and the 3 of them played uno then watched Cars until he fell asleep

Dame picked up Ky and took him to bed then came back out to A'Vayah lighting her candles and making sure everything was off or locked

"Oh, Lexi asked if we wanted to spend the weekend with her and chase, We'd take the kids out earlier in the day then go out to eat just the 4 of us at night" she said remembering the words of her friend

"Yea, it sound fun. Plus I ain seen chase or my lil princess in a minute" Dame replied

"Ok, I'll let her know" A'Vayah said walking to her room

"Good night Vee"

"Goodnight D"

Both A'Vayah and Damien laid facing what would've been each other if they laid their together not even knowing

They were thinking of what could be or what could've been but came to the realization that this was for the best. They were both doing better apart

They went to sleep with their mind at ease with that thought but still a slight bit of uncertainty
