Born and raised in a family of faith healers, Regina grew up believing in superstitions, kaugaliang di niya maitatanggi. Her parents were known as the best “manggagamot at magtatawas” in their barrio, something she has always been proud of, lalo at ni kusing ay di tumanggap ang mga ito galing sa mga taong nagagamot nila. Instead their house was filled with oils and candles — mga alay ng pasasalamat galing sa mga natutulungan nila. Ngunit lahat ng paniniwala ni Regina ay gumuho at napalitan ng takot nang ma-diagnose ang ama ng stage four colon cancer na kalauna’y ikinamatay nito. It made Regina lose her interest and belief in faith healing, and led her to dream to be a doctor one day.
Narda grew up as a jolly kid. Laging may bitbit na isang sakong kalokohang kayang magpahalakhak sa sinuman. She likes putting smiles on everyone’s faces, but behind all that was a longing heart — a heart that has been longing for love from her parents, who passed away when she was just a kid. Her father suddenly died because of brain aneurysm. Five years after that, her mother died because of tuberculosis on a New Year’s day. It made Narda’s heart crush into pieces. It was as if a part of her went along with her parents in their graves. From then on she promised herself that never again in her family will ever die from illnesses that could’ve been prevented. Sisiguraduhin niyang sa pangangalaga niya, kalusugan nila ang mauuna. She will be the doctor that they need, in every way she can.
