My mother definitely knew that we weren't supposed to use magic at home, so I tried only to use it in my room, preferably in the middle of the night. I worked on my Apparition skills, which seemed to actually get better. Mum almost caught me once or twice, though. We hadn't had any lessons about it, yet, and it felt really weird. I had only read about it in library books, but I had not tried Apparating at school. But now I had plenty of time to practice, although I had no idea when I was going to use it.
I had also been making a few healing potions, for, you-never-know-moments, and stacked them in a secret drawer under my bed. Mum worked in the holidays, too, so when I had time alone, I made those potions. Sometimes even with my brother's help. Luckily, nothing blew up.
Neville had decided to put his wand away for now, scared that he'd do something mum would find out, and then blame the both of us. I still honestly couldn't understand why a man as handsome as my father ever fell in love with her. There were few moments I remember of her being nice to us. We never saw pictures of my dad, and neither of her, when she was younger. Maybe she was beautiful and nice once, too.I still didn't understand a few things about myself, though. Like my visions. Why did I have them? What could they mean? Was Ron right, and could it maybe someday mean something important? Also, why did I see Ron and Harry's shadow the other day when they were under the Invisibility Cloak? That wasn't supposed to happen.

"Neville, could you get the post?" mum said. My brother went to the door and picked up the post. He scrolled through the mail until he held one up.
"Hey, Jynx, look."
"I stood up from the couch and Neville showed a letter, saying: 'for Jynx and Neville'. He opened it.
"It's from Ron."
Ron had told us before the summer holiday that he would send an owl to invite us to his house.
"What have you got there?" mum asked.
"A letter, from Ron, our friend," I said. "He's asking us to stay over at his house for a while."
Mom raised an eyebrow.
"And is your other... friend, Harry Potter going to be there?"
"No, I don't think so," I lied. Well, I didn't lie, I wasn't exactly sure he would come. "His aunt and uncle are very strict. They are Muggles, after all."
I suddenly got the urge to ask about our father again, but I knew mum wouldn't tell us. It was better anyway to behave like good kids if we wanted to go to Ron's house.
Mum nodded.
"Well, then I'll consider it."I smiled at Neville as we got back to our rooms. We didn't have much left of our holiday, so maybe we could pack our stuff and stay there until school began.
Then I realised that Harry still had not answered my letter. I had send my owl Sofia with a friendly letter to him about a week ago, because I knew his situation and he didn't exactly have it easy living there. Harry wasn't really a person to ignore mail, so I hoped nothing bad happened.
The next day our mother told us to go pack our stuff, because we were going to the Weasleys. We already had bought our books for school earlier, I guess that's a benefit of having a mother that works at the Ministry of Magic; she provided us as early as possible with all our school supplies.
Ron had send his address in the letter, so mum knew where to drive to. A few hours later we arrived at a house practically in the middle of nowhere, but it was a rather big house. I mean, with seven children, what would you expect? I saw Ron running towards us, and I waved. I jumped out of the car, grabbed my stuff out of the trunk and said something like "thanks" to mum. Neville got out too, but not as flexible as me. He half-fell, but stood up again as if nothing happened. He too mumbled a "thank you" to mum.
"Well, have fun," mum smiled her ridiculously sweet smile. "I do hope you do a bit better this year at school," she said, looking especially at Neville.
"We'll try our best," I said emotionless.
Then she rode away in her pink car."Well, your mother doesn't seem so bad," Ron said.
"Hi to you too," I sighed.
"Oh," he said with a bit of guilt in his voice. "Is it an act?"
"Yeah," Neville said. "She does nice to everyone but us."
"I certainly hope your mother is nicer," I said. "She seemed really nice at the trainstation last year."
"Yeah, I guess she is a sweet mother," Ron shrugged. "I wouldn't have traded her for any other mother."
"Lucky for you," Neville and I sighed in unison.
