Ron jumped and grabbed Scabbers from the ground.
"Come on," I said, while he put the rat back in his pocket. "They'll see us, quick."
But we didn't even have the time to get under the cloak. There was a sound behind us, and when I looked around, I stared into the eyes of a dog, as black as night, as big as a wolf and with pale eyes.
He took a jump at Harry, who fell backwards, with the dog on his chest. It rolled off again, and Harry stood up. I took out my wand.
"Don't touch him!" I said bravely, but my shaking hand was revealing I wasn't feeling so brave.
This time he didn't go for Harry though, but for Ron. The dog grabbed Ron's arm with his jaws and dragged him away from us."No! Ron!" I said, and tried to grab his foot, but the dog was too fast.
Hermione, Harry and I went after them, and we lit our wands, because it was really dark now.
The dog had dragged Ron all the way to the Womping Willow. The tree was swooping in every direction to stop us from getting closer. We tried to avoid getting hit by the tree and it's deathly sharp branches.
Ron was almost out of sight, as he had been pulled into a gap under the tree, only his feet were visible.
"Ron, hold on!" I yelled, as I rolled out of the way for one of the branches. I was so close, but then a branch went for my head. I held my arm up to protect my head, and got cut across my arm. I yelled, and quickly ducked, to avoid getting hit again.I got back again, because this was no use. Harry had been hurt as well, and Hermione had a painful cut on her shoulder. I saw Ron hooking his foot around a root to stop from falling inside the hole, but the dog kept pulling, and they was a nasty cracking sound. Ron screamed and let his foot go, disappearing out of sight completely.
"No!" Harry yelled.
"We've got to go for help," Hermione said.
"No! That dog could eat him, we've got to help!"
"We'll never get in!"
"If that dog can get in, so can we," I stated, holding my hurt arm.
Suddenly, Crookshanks leaped forward, between the branches of the Willow, touched something on the roots of the tree, and the Womping Willow stopped moving, like it had been a normal tree all along.
"What- how did he know?" Hermione said surprised. I looked up at the tree. This was getting stranger by the second.
"He's friends with that dog," Harry said. "I've seen them together."
"What?" I said in surprise. We quickly followed the cat, and slid down into a tunnel.
"Where does this lead to?" Hermione said scared.
"No idea," Harry answered. "It's marked on the map, but Fred and George said no one ever got in. It looks like it ends up in Hogsmeade."
He could have been right, because the way we had to walk was almost as long as the way to Hogsmeade. The tunnel took twists and turns, and led upwards, and then we came in a room. I nudged Harry a little harder than I meant to.
"This is it," I said, and looked at the both of them. "The house from my vision."
It was, just like in my vision, all messed up. There was a chair, off which a leg had been ripped off.
"Ghosts didn't do that," Harry whispered.
"I think we're in the Shrieking Shack," Hermione said with wide eyes.
"How do you know what the Shrieking Shack looks like?" I asked, but there was no time for answer, because there was a creaking sound coming from upstairs."Nox," I whispered, and the two did the same. We quietly went upstairs, where we ended up in another room. On the floor was Ron, painfully holding his broken leg.
"Ron!" we said, and I knelt down, accidentally leaning on my hurt arm. I groaned, and clutched my arm.
"Where is the dog?" Harry asked.
"Not a dog," Ron groaned. "It's a trap."
"What?"
"It's an Animagus."
I sighed. We should have known. There was a snap, and we looked around. There stood a man. The three of us stood up. I leaned against the wall, panting, and felt cold sweat dripping down my neck. I felt like I was going to throw up.
With dirty, long, matted hair to his elbows, pale eyes and a face that looked almost like a skull, stood Sirius Black. My father.
I never thought about how our meeting- if that would ever occur- would have looked like, but this was very far from it.
"Expelliarmus!" he said with a croaking voice, pointing Ron's wand at us, and our wands flew through the air into his hand.
