Poem #55

I am a human hellhound,
A creature with a cursed fate,
I see the end of life,
For those I come to hate.

I can see how people die,
And how long they have left to live,
A gift or a curse,
That I cannot forgive.

For I am still in denial,
Of the power that I possess,
To know the hour of death,
And leave families in distress.

I prowl through the streets,
With eyes that can see,
The shadows of the reaper,
Lingering over thee.

I can sense the fear,
In the depths of their soul,
As they try to hide,
From the fate that I know.

But I am just a messenger,
A grim reminder of fate,
A human hellhound,
With a burden too great.

I try to ignore,
The visions that haunt me,
But they always come back,
And I cannot break free.

For I am a human hellhound,
Cursed with this sight,
A burden that I bear,
Day and night.

I long for a day,
When I can be like the rest,
Blind to the future,
And live without this test.

But for now, I'll roam,
Through the darkness and light,
A human hellhound,
In a never-ending fight.
