Ever so sly in all its ways
A creature hidden, just a phase
Stealing life from unsuspecting hosts
A parasite, the one who boasts
Feasting on its victim's life
Creeping in, causing strife
A silent intruder, it goes unseen
Until its damage starts to gleam
A tiny pest, but oh so strong
It latches on, it doesn't long
To drain its host of all its worth
Leaving behind a barren earth
Oh parasite, what do you gain?
Leaving destruction in your wake, with no refrain
Do you feel remorse, for the lives you take?
Or do you simply move on, without a break?
Invisible to the naked eye
But its effects, oh how they multiply
Bringing sickness, bringing pain
A parasite, with nothing to gain
But in nature, it serves a role
A part of the cycle, an important toll
Without it, the balance would be lost
A necessary evil, but at what cost?
