Poem #85

Trapped in this void, we stand alone
The outside world, we can't condone
With walls like steel and doors locked tight
We're stuck in this isolation's blight

No windows, no sunlight, no fresh air
Just white walls, barren and bare
Our only company, our own minds
As we try to leave our pasts behind

For this is an experiment, a test
To see how long we can endure this quest
To break our spirits, to make us crack
But we won't give in, we won't go back

Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months
In this place where loneliness hunts
But we find ways to cope and survive
To keep our sanity from taking a dive

We write, we draw, we sing, we dream
Hoping one day, we'll break this scheme
And when the darkness starts to blind
We look for light in each other's minds

We share our stories, our hopes, our fears
And slowly, we find connection here
In this experiment of isolation
We find solace in our imagination

But as time goes by, we start to see
The flaws in this experiment's decree
For though we're isolated, we're not alone
In this space where our true selves have shone

We may be apart from the rest of the world
But we've found a bond that can't be unfurled
For in this isolation, we've found a way
To connect with each other, day by day

And as the doors finally open wide
We step out, a little changed inside
For in this experiment, we've learned to survive
And found strength in the connections that thrive
