Blue P.o.V
We shot the machinery that seemed to have tormented both of the people Pastel spoke to me about. As the second one fainted from the shock of it, my friend burst into tears and limped then fell to his knees, hugging him. I followed, not trying to disturb anything, staying at a reasonable distance.
Dream approached us and saw the bloody face of the other, his chest still rising upwards but weakly.
"Who's the one who's supposed to be dead?"
"T-They're both alive... I-I think."
"Hm..."
She saw the needles beside them.
"That's why they were terrified of that thing, there's moodbloom serum in the syringes." "Moodbloom?"
Pastel whispered to me, confused. At that moment, I realized that if this was a Capitol bot... how can it have access to the rarest plant around here? Unless they've finally gotten their hands on it once more after they extinct it... or found the secret area? I was praying that the second option wasn't the right one.
"I'll tell you later."
I whispered quickly as we patched up their wounds, using a lot of the bandages for the laggy one's eye. We had to gut a bit more blood and disinfect it or it would cause infection. By the damage, he'll only have impared vision on one of the eyes.
I remember the first time I was faced with something like this. I was a young rebel, helping Cressida out in the ER and there was one that came in shot to the head. The bullet had crossed their face, scraping the eyes and disfiguring them as well. That image, I will never forget.
"Blue... BLUE?"
Dream snapped me out of my zoning out as we began rushing for the base, remembering that those beaten creatures were most probably from the Capitol and that it's pupils are most probably roaming around the forest.
The mountains were the hardest, I carried the one named Ink, from what his boyfriend told me. They were together for a while now and the situation hadn't been helping too much. To be honest, it's nice to hear others' love stories but not at a time where we're rushing to save their lives.
"Can you just stop talking about that? I don't like hearing those things."
I think I formulated it wrong because he just shut up the entire way home. It took about half a day, counting the breaks to do check ups or change bloody bandages.
Once there, we quickly whanged them to the doctors who took care of the blood bags, patching up some things and seeing the X-Rays revealing how many broken bones they had. The amount kinda scared me a little.
In the waiting room, Pastel ignored me.
"Hey, I'm sorry for what I said before."
"Yeah, you could've formulated that a bit better."
"It's not that I don't care about your boyfriend and stuff... it's just that it wasn't the moment."
He sighed, turning his face away from me.
"Can you just leave me alone? I just need to process everything that happened."
I stared at his knees, having some thin casts around them made of material that permitted mobility. It was pretty cool.
"Of course..."
