The world crumbled right before me as I stumbled across my home. So many voices in my head telling me to run off and escape... I was powerless against them. I hated them now... hated.

The regular dirt and stone infested path had sticks implanted in them. And on top of those, stood the bodies of my parents and Cuddles. Hung in front of me, lifeless and disgusting. Their bodies were tinkered with in such odd ways, you couldn't recognize them. For example, father's face had his hands ripped out and eyes shot in with profuse blood leaking out of the remotely fresh wounds. Only the light emitted by my burning home showed their corpses. I had nothing left. I was an orphan.

"Will you reconsider your offer?"

The same guard asked.

"No... what have you done to me?"

"Correction, reconsider your offer now."

"You are fucking monsters... you don't understand."

I got up and noticed a hatchet near my family's bodies. I crawled over to that and grabbed it before charging at the man before he kicked me in the stomach, sending me backwards. I then threw the axe at his chest but it bounced off with the armor.

"Pathetic. You think you can do something against us?"

They circled me, trying to keep me calm. "Since you don't learn, here's another warning."

Two of the guards grabbed my arms as I yanked them off and ran as quickly as possible, finding a garbage pile and agilely escalating to the roof. I slipped between the houses, jumping rooftop after rooftop. I even went by Pastel's who quickly noticed I was being chased and snuck out to observe.

With the small opening I had, I leaped into the forest, sprinting off for my life. The woods at night were terrifying but I had no choice if I wanted to at least grasp a little more freedom. Trucks began chasing me as I lurked into the darker part of the dense place by foot. Eventually, Peacekeepers started following me, knowing that their vehicles wouldn't be of much use.

"Stop!"

Many of them yelled as I ignored. I didn't know where I was going but I hoped to figure it out soon... maybe I'll turn around and discreetly make my way to Pastel's place, seeking comfort from him. I began running out of breath as my boyfriend stayed among the trees, slipping down one.

I was almost to freedom as I tripped down a root and rolled on the velvety sweep of luscious grass populating this part of the woods. There was a small hill that went downwards so I got dirty and scratched while I spun, reminding me when the Games started... Reaper. I had a small instance within these few seconds as I could feel myself reliving the past.

"Please don't hurt him."

Pastel came out of the bushes as they shot his arm as a reflex. He clutched it as he fell down, groaning at the sudden pain.

"No! Pastel! Just run."

The guards resumed what they were doing. Grabbing my two arms and lifting me up while another took my leg. I didn't know what this had to do in hefting me to the truck but I suspected something odd. When I least expected, the other twisted my leg backwards and pushed it in, making a huge cracking sound. I yelped loudly as my lover had to watch all of that as the others patched up his lesions.

"Good luck escaping with that."

They made fun of me and simply threw me back, my leg still distorted. I shook and cried at the sheer pain as Pastel attempted to help me along with a rookie Peacekeeper that didn't fully understand the job. For now, they placed a stick along my knee and wrapped a bandage around it. The other also furnished me with some crutches and it took much longer to get me to the main square, where I was thrown out of the moving vehicle along with my boyfriend.
