Pastel P.o.V

Our wounds were almost healed after these three months. Our daily schedule was pretty repetitive ; wake up, be on guard, change the bandages, eat, make Error get resources, watch the news or a movie, eat, take a nap, be on guard again, play a board game, eat, sleep.

There have been times where leaving the house was impossible like when there would be rebel fights. I, myself, have relinquished my rebel title and said that I didn't want to be one of them anymore to protect my new family. I'd treat my boyfriend and his friend like my own family because I had no one left.

It breaks my heart to see them crying sometimes. Even Error, which I thought never cried, did so because he missed his family himself. Ink, on the other hand, would cry for Cuddles, his mom and dad, the pain that his broken leg gave him or of pure fear of being killed or

brought somewhere he's never seen before. I felt incredibly bad for him, everything he's been through. Nothing's been the same.

I've been able to make some progress with new gun creation and the chip that would remove Ink's tracker and data. We will escape soon, it's a must at this point. I've already guessed that the Capitol wants something to do with us, they want us so they can throw us into a lab and make us suffer the same fate as my partner.

"Pastel..."

The night had fallen. A few gunshots were heard in the distance as I stayed awake, working on the miniscule device the size of a coin.

"Yes?"

I took off the protection mask and looked around to my boyfriend who seemed worried.

"I'm scared... can you come sleep with me?"

"Sure. I'll be there in five minutes, I'm almost done with my creation that's going to help you."

He walked over to me then hugged me. I smiled and missed his warm embrace, we'd been so distracted that we nearly forgot we were even a couple. This made me wake up, perhaps I'd spend more time with him once I'm done.

The next five minutes were long and guilty. Not even two minutes in, I let everything down and went downstairs to pick up Ink's sleeping body then lead him to my room. I had gotten overall stronger from the training and martial arts Error taught me.

I carefully placed him onto my twin sized bed and hopped onto it, pulling the cover on top of us. I held him close to me, not wanting to let go. The strident noises persisted through the darkness but I forgot about them. Eventually, even the glitchy one came down, I should find a nickname...

"Hey, Pastel, you okay?" "Yeah, I'm just sleep deprived."

He stared at the desk and picked up a few things to have a closer look.

"Put it down please, that thing's supposed to go on Ink's tracker so I don't wanna get it infected. I can't afford that."

"So you think I'm dirty?"

"No, you're just not sterile like the rest of my equipment."

"Ah okay. Mind if I sleep here as well."

"What- why? Thought you were fine in the attic."

"Well, guess not. Besides, I'm cold and I got used to touching you guys."

"Oh yeah, it's true... winter will hit soon."

I had to change my strategy.

"Error, tomorrow, go buy some boots for me and you along with heavy jackets." "What for?"

"We're going to escape."

"Damn... I don't think it's a good idea man."

"You'd rather die?"

"Nah... maybe?"

I sighed and made some space for my 'friend' as we all fell asleep.

The time we woke up, an alarming smell of smoke got us on our guard. Ink was fast asleep though. I finished up with the tracker blocker and flipped him over to install it. In the meantime, Error tried to find the source of the intriguing odour.

"P-Pastel."

I heard him murmur in a voice I haven't heard before. When I went down, I knew exactly what he was talking about. There were a lot of Peacekeepers aiming their guns at us and on top of it... the house was on fire... no wait... the district itself was flaming.

The night was calm on the way to District 7, Dream sat in the back seat and we discussed problems. There were small fragments of my identity still left to discover and Cressida really was the only one who knew where I came from. It would be unfortunate if she died... because then I would never know where I came from.

"Blue, come sit next to me." "Huh... okay."

I walked over to Dream and took a seat next to her.

"I sense something's off, do you have any questions?"

"Oh... I was just questioning myself when I'd get to know about the place I'm from." "Well, I learned at 18 so I don't think it'll be any different for you."

"But I'm 17 now... can't she tell me?"

"No... just wait a few more months."

"C'mon! It's November and my birthday is in January!"

"Just wait. Their trip to the Capitol won't be treacherous."

I pouted and crossed my arms. "What a real five year old you are-" "Excuse me?!"

"Haha, you even get upset like one."

She poked my non-existent nose as I turned around. Then my friend wrapped her arms around me in comfort.

"You're so cute."

"Thanks."

I mumbled. The train then stopped as we were allowed out into the plains after the thick woods of District 7. When we entered the hidden base, carved within a cave, the people thanked us for coming and said that no one in the external communications responded, nor did they find their fellow rebel's tracking devices. They sent a small group of people to do something but they haven't arrived there yet.

We went into the computer room as they gasped at one signal in a house that was deemed abandoned and in shambles because of an attack. Apparently, the winner and his friends were staying there so they could be a small source of information.

Back to the helpers, by the small cameras on their headgear, we could see that they climbed the mountain not too far. From there, we could see a small amount of smoke which probably didn't mean anything good. There were rumors of the destruction of the district but we didn't think it would actually happen. We're about ten kilometers so the small amount of smoke can mean that there might be only one building on fire... anyways, it's too far to tell.

Then, we were introduced to our sleeping quarters. About 60-70 people lived here and compared to the safe haven, it's really minimal. There used to be more people in the headquarters here but they all moved away in fear of destruction because there was a point where the president almost found out where they were.

Ever since, we always code messages in order to keep us protected from potential intruders. "Tomorrow, we will send you two on the way to recover the missing subject. We will monitor its actions and give you information on the possible cases."

"It might be an animal that swallowed the necklace..."

"But it might be someone as well." "Hm..."

I don't know anymore... theories can pop up in my head but I'm too exhausted to think right now.
