They left me in the cell for more than a couple of hours. It felt like it's been a while since I saw anyone approach the observation rooms since the last meal I ate was long ago. My stomach began growling which tells me that it's probably about the time I get my next meal, since the last one was lunch.

I waited and waited, whilst deciding a contrasting escape plan in my head. I gazed from left to right in the spacious room. I watched the ice covering the entire floor melt as if watching a bucket of paint dry.

When it gets boring, I began diverging my attention away from the plan distractedly then pulled it back repeatedly. I stared at my hands with dilated eyes, hoping that something would happen to break the boredom. Though I know things that have happened so far haven't been pleasant, I'd like some ice breaker to break the boredom.

I got up and strolled towards the observation room, peeking through the blinds to see what's hiding on the other side. I'd hoped to see papers and items placed on the desk which may include information of any sort. But there's nothing but an empty table and large sized drawers which I assumed was where my records were kept.

When I got nearer, I peeked my eyes through the glass as I flinched abruptly when a metallic sound was made.

It was loud, I turned towards where it came and perceived that the heavy metallic door had been brought halfway up.

The alarm was supposed to be set off by now but nothing came. I had my eyes shut and my ears covered but nothing sounded or moved. I was prepared for the alarm to go off but nothing seemed to happen. I'd even had a script of explanation prepared to be read out to the workers when they arrived at an alarm.

When nothing was triggered, I took my steps caustically towards the opened door. I glanced through the door and saw literally nothing in that room and no shadow under the door crack. It was strange but at the same time, it's fortunate to have the locked door open by itself.

I stood and hesitated for a while, contemplating whether to take this opportunity to escape or remain in my cell till I get more information on this building.

I could rush out of the room instantly, find something to cut off this bracelet on my hands, figure out how to use this ability of mine, then I can escape. As long as I get this bracelet off me, it makes it harder for them to hurt or find me.

Though it sounded easy in just a few steps, I doubt that those few steps could be accomplished successfully even if I have time. I've tried to take control of this ability on several occasions but none of them are worth my time. I discovered nothing of value out of those attempts.

And there's a few things this building had put up to prevent me from escaping. They'd had cameras installed at every corner to view all the hallways, which meant that they had their eyes on anywhere a prisoner could go. That indicated that hiding in this place wouldn't be easy with these devices tracking my every move.

I looked left then right, then burst out of the metallic door without a second later. I set myself before the row of drawers and pulled them all open, revealing the stacks of documents which I perceived were scientific documents on the experiments they'd conducted on me.

I ignored the documents and continued searching for tools but I found nothing other than regular stationeries.

When I found nothing of value, I switched my gaze to the door which leads out of this cell completely. I see no movements intruding the light underneath the door crack, and no noise on the other side. I took a few steps forward and stuck my ear to the door, reassuring myself that no one's outside the door.

There was the indifferent silence outside, I reached a hand and placed it on the door handle. Hesitating as I recalled a reminder abruptly, that I'd set the alarm off when I opened the second door out of my cell.

With that in my mind, I distanced myself from the door immediately, almost bouncing away from it as if it's hurting me. I turned to the other door back to my cell which is still open.

No, my mind screamed, this is the greatest opportunity I'd gotten.

I can't let it slide.

My plan switched again, and I headed towards the door, trying my best to remain calm and maintain a moderate heartbeat. At the same time, the door slid open on its own.

I stood in utter shock, my jaws dropped but I pulled myself off my dramatic self and ran out of the room instantly.

Concomitantly, the lights shut off in an orderly manner. Row by row, till the entire hallway is filled with darkness.

I paused and returned to the observation room, hands rummaging through the drawers till I found the flashlight which I once saw used by the workers. Afterwards, I returned to the hallways with the flashlight switched off in my hands and began searching my way out of this complicated place.

I could vaguely see what's before me but not a few feet from me, so it's very likely that I'm going to run into a wall.

Not long after I ran, I saw light from the end of a hallway which indicates that I'm reaching a lively area which is most likely guarded by someone. But then I saw movements before I realized those were shadows and the light came from a flashlight.

I turned around and ran into another hallway where there are rooms which don't look much like a subject's confinement cell. The rooms in the hallways were symmetrical against one another which made me feel uncomfortable. They seemed extremely fake and surreal like all those dreams I'd had.

I threw myself into one of the rooms when I heard the footsteps getting louder, regardless of what's on the other side of the door.

I revolved around and turned on the flashlight instantly to see what's in the room. Struggling to find the switch due to my anxiousness, I dropped it by accident. I picked it up and switched it on without wasting more time.

Surprisingly, I'm in a storage room with racks after racks of documents. They're all filled with boxes of papers and files, packed in neat ways such that it's done by a perfectionist.

It seemed like an enormous room but I couldn't tell its size since the racks are blocking my view. The rack is a good way for me to hide without fear of getting caught. Since the security cameras have currently been shut down due to another electrical outage, they couldn't track me down no matter where I am, as long as I stay in the right area.

Without waiting for long, I began searching the storage room, hoping for any sharp object to be kept in this room. I glanced at the bracelet every once in a while, fearing that they might use the controller device to deliver a shock to my bracelet. That way, if I get a shock, I'll react which sends out an attack which harms anyone near me.

I passed a row of racks and perceived that I'd arrived at the tools section. When I crouched down to one of the boxes, I realized that almost all of them had rusted.

Still usable, I thought to myself.

I rummaged through the boxes and found tools after tools which are better than the tool which I'd selected previously.

Eventually, I picked the best and safest tool, which is a partly rusted bolt cutter.

I settled it down and prepared to snap that bracelet in half, when a pair of hands covered my mouth and drew me backwards.
