"Where are the others?" My brother asks.

I stuck to the wall and crouched down before the light pours onto my head and reveal who's standing behind 'Kieran'.

I looked up at the man whose back was facing me, my gaze tracing his face features. The face was nothing different compared to the Kieran I last met. I was sure that this is him who I was looking for but I came surprised that he'd told me a false name a second time.

My gaze focused on the casual leather shoes he wore, wondering if he ever had another twin which he never mentioned.

"They went that way," the man said to Kaysen, indicating where my brother just came from, which isn't an incorrect answer, "I heard they were attacked."

To that my brother responded with a shocking tone, "How long ago?"

The man slowly walked out of the dark hallway, putting himself as an escort to my brother. At this point, I wasn't sure if he's aware of my presence or that he'd heard me calling his name a while ago, since my voice was covered by my brother's.

It'd be ideal if he didn't, so that I could announce my arrival in a better way.

"Minutes ago, I believe," the man answered confidently, "I assume it was subject-89. The scientists were hurt and running towards the exit, and so is she."

"I'll get going. You go see if my father needs help." I heard Kaysen's footsteps running off the hallway immediately after he was told I'm heading towards the exit.

My gaze were still on the man's shoe, waiting for him to turn around and to be surprised that I'm here.

There were concerns too, that he'd already switched sides on me. I was afraid of betrayal, after what'd happened in the past, even though I have an extraordinary power to take these mere mortals down with a clap of my hands.

I felt a something landed on my head, soft and lightly pressing against my scalp. I didn't turn to look up to know that it was the man's hand that's patting my head.

Breaking the ominous silence surrounding the both of us, he spoke, "You'd done well, Crystal."

I raised my head, my gaze connected to his as he a warm and comforting smile touches his lips.

"Let's go," he reached down and offered me a hand.

He knew where I was all along, he just played along to keep me safe.

I reached out my hand and buried mine in his warm and gentle palm, allowing him to pull my up from the ground.

We went through hallways after hallways, and through complicated door way which led to another door. The both of us walked in utter silence, but it was a comfortable silence, it always is.

I didn't speak because I was overthinking the current situation. He may betray me at some point, he could literally sell me out and send me back to my cell since he's in the position of authority here.

I thought of what happened the last time he tried to get me out and I didn't listen, I ran after the workers and went looking for my brother instead of going along the escape plan he'd prepared. I was foolish, I was obstinately obsessed with vengeance then, I was blinded by revenge to those who brought me here. But even if I was after revenge, I should've been grateful for the chance to escape.

After the the last attempt to escape, it'd been so long since I'd had a chance to even step out of that cell.

I'd been overthinking for so long that we'd already arrived at what he said to be our destination, after going through millions of doors and hallways. I was having countless internal debates then, and I can only assume he was doing the same.
