Beautiful Mistake

Chapter 6

We didn't do much at the sleep over. We pretty much ate, then all headed to bed.

I was up before anyone else in the house. I sat up, my back aching.

"Remind me to sleep on the floor next time." I mumbled to myself.

Nathan's couch wasn't the comfiest. You would think it was because all he does is sit on it and play video games.

I stretched one more time to try and get the kinks out and headed towards the bathroom.

Since everyone was sleeping I decided to take a quick shower. I closed the door and quickly got undressed. It was a little cold in Nate's condo so I was relieved to feel the hot water hitting my skin.

I took my time to wash up. Soaking up the heat, dreading the time when I need to get out.

I slowly scrubbed my hair and took my time rinsing all the soap out. I took in the aroma of the Axe body wash Nate had. After I rinsed it, was time to get out. I sighed and turned off the water. It was so steamy in the bathroom I couldn't quiet see my towel.

Just as I grabbed it the door flew open. I screamed, quickly wrapping my towel around me. I saw Destery jump at least 10 feet in the air. He quickly covered his eyes.

"Um... I'm sorry. I just woke up. I had no idea you were in here." Destery said. His cheeks were bright red. He was just as embarrassed as I was.

"I-it's okay." I stuttered, to embarrassed to say anything else.

I quickly slipped by him after grabbing my clothes. I headed down the hall into an unused room. I quickly shut the door and locked it.

Holy shit. I took a deep breath. My cheeks burning, and it wasn't from the very hot shower.

I got dressed, wrapping my towel around my head. I opened the door a crack. Peeking to see if anyone was out there. I tip toed over to the bathroom. A sigh of relief escaped through my lips. Destery had gone back to his room.

I went back into the bathroom to blow dry my hair. I sprayed my bangs with hair spray and straightened my hair. After I was satisfied with my hair, I headed towards the kitchen. I stopped dead in my tracks as I caught sight of Destery. My cheeks began to burn again. I wasn't ready to face him. Not yet. He almost saw me naked two minutes ago.

I took a deep breath, and walked towards the kitchen. Keeping my head down and staring at the floor. I walked past Destery, our arms brushing against each other. My skin was instantly covered in goose bumps.

I grabbed a bowl and a spoon. I nearly dropped everything at the sound of Destery chuckling.

"So that was awkward this morning." He was smiling, I could hear it in his voice.

"Um.. Yea." I didn't really want to talk about it, just wanted to forget about it. I grabbed the coco pebbles and poured some in my bowl.

"Hey don't be embarrassed, I should be the one embarrassed." He chuckled, "I forgot you girls were here, so I thought it was Nathan. My bad."

I nodded, still refusing to look him in the eye.

Destery's POV.

I could tell Bay was super embarrassed about what happened this morning. I felt bad, so I tried to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. My plan didn’t seem like it was working.

I silently gave up and continued to make my breakfast. Out of the cover of my eye I noticed Bay rubbing her back.

"Is everything alright?"

She turned and looked at me with those beautiful eyes of hers. She looked so innocent and cute.

"I slept on the couch last night and it kind of messed up my back. It hurts."

"Do you want me to rub it for you?"

Her eyes widened. I could feel my cheeks getting hot. Why did I ask that?

"Um... I-I'm sorry. I don't know why I asked you that."

She smiled shyly.

"It's alright, but do you mind? No one else is up and I guess you could start a friendship by giving me a back rub." She laughed, I did to. Her laugh was so cute, I loved the sound of it.

She put her bowl in the sink and sat down on the couch. I turned the TV on and turned it to cartoons.

To be honest I was a little afraid to touch her. I didn't want to touch her the wrong way and have her be offended. I rubbed her shoulders, getting the kinks up there. I moved down her back, getting ride of those pesky kinks the couch left on her back.

We didn't talk at all, our focus was on the TV, trying not to make it awkward.

Once I was done I removed my hands from her body, not saying a word.

She turned to me.

"Thanks. You're now officially my best friend." She smiled, laughing a little.

I smiled back. "Whoo hoo!"

We sat on the couch, chatting away. The incident that happened was forgotten. I liked being friends with Bay. Now I know why Nathan talked about her so much. She was sweet and friendly, and she was gorgeous to boot.

We talked all morning until Haley and Nathan finally got up. We turned to see them walking down the hall, clearly still sleepy.

"Rough night?" I asked, looking at Nathan, grinning.

"Sleeping isn't hard Des. Waking up is the hard part." He shot back, yawning.

"I spent at least 20 minutes trying to get his lazy ass out of bed." Haley laughed, clearly not fazed by Nate's laziness.

"So did you guys get it in?"

I saw Haley's cheeks turn bright red.

"Well duh! Des, you know I always fuck on the first date." Nate said, taking a bite out of his muffin.

"Nathan!" Haley said, playfully hitting him, laughing.

"No we didn't ‘get it in.’ That's one way to ruin a relationship. We just cuddled and talked for a while."

"For a while? You mean until 4 in the morning!" Bay said, finally speaking.

Haley just rolled her eyes, stealing a bite out of Nathan's muffin.

"Hey! My muffin! Get your own, women!"

We all burst out laughing. This year was definitely going to be great.
