Beautiful Mistake

Chapter 14

Bay's POV

I woke up to the sound of my phone going off. I blinked a couple times before peeling Desterys arm off of me and grabbing my phone. I looked back at the sleeping boy in my bed and smiled. He looked so cute. I checked my phone. I had 20 missed calls from Haley. I went to her contact and called her back.

"Hello?" A fragile voice on the other line answered.

"Haley are you alright? You sound like you've been crying!"

"No Bay, I'm not alright." She began to cry again, clearly something major happened.

"Haley, calm down. What's wrong?"

I waited for her to answer, and when she did I nearly dropped my phone on the ground.

"Bay I-I'm pregnant."

I couldn't speak. For a moment, I forgot to breathe. What did she just say? How could this be?!

"Wha-what? How? Haley what..." I was at a loss for words. She was only 17. This must be a nightmare.

I heard her start crying again, "I know! I know! I don't know what happened! We were so careful, I..." She trailed off, now hiccuping from crying so hard.

"I have to go. I have a doctors appointment. Nathan is taking me. I'll let you know the details later."

I said good bye and hung up. My heart was pounding, tears filling my eyes and spilling over. I jumped when Destery put his hand on my shoulder.

"Bay? Bay, what's wrong?" He asked, eyes filled with concern.

I couldn't speak, I was so in shock. I opened my mouth but no words came out. He pulled me into his chest, hugging me tightly.

"Shh, baby girl, everything will be alright. Calm down. What happened?"

I looked up at his face, trying to find my voice.

"Haley's pregnant."

His eyes widened. He opened his mouth but clammed it shut. He held me tighter. I laid my head on his chest, clinging on to him as I cried into it. This couldn't be happening, not to my best friend. Not right now.

Nathan's POV.

We drove in silence. I held on to Haley's hand, squeezing her it. I can't believe this happened. We were so careful. I felt a tear roll down my face, Haley's gentle hand wiped it away.

"We'll be okay, we'll figure it all out." She said, weakly smiling.

I smiled a small smile. I still couldn't believe this.

Destery's POV.

It was a slow and quiet day. What Bay had told me this morning made me sick. My best friend Nathan was going to be a father. I wanted to throw up.

We waited for Haley's call, watching TV on the couch, clinging to each other. Bays head was on my chest, we haven't said a word since this morning. We both jumped at the sound of Bays phone going off. Bay flew off the couch, grabbing her phone.

"Hello?" She answered, waiting as Haley kept talking.

I sat there, waiting for Bay to tell me the news. I started to get impatient. I paced back and forth, fiddling with my hands. Soon enough Bay got off the phone, sitting back down on the couch.

"So? What did the doctor say?"

She looked at me, no emotion in her eyes.

"Well, she's pregnant... And they're keeping the baby." She sighed, letting the news sink in.

I sat down next to her, wrapping my arms around her and holding her. We didn't do anything for the rest of the night. We watched movies and then went to bed. I lied awake, Bay fast asleep in my arms, her head on my chest. I couldn't believe what was going on. I carefully reached for my phone and texted Nathan.

*To: Nateo- Hey dude how are you feeling?*

*From: Nateo- Alright for the moment. Kind of numb.*

I didn't blame him. I don't know what I'd do if I got Bay pregnant now.

*To: Nateo- Everything will be alright bro. Bay and I will help out as much as we can.*

I set my phone down. I knew he wouldn't text back. I laid back down, my mind spinning. It must have been 1:30 in the morning before I fell into a deep, deep sleep.
