Beautiful Mistake

Chapter 10

I woke up to my alarm going off. I rolled over, hitting the off button. I opened my eyes and groaned. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, yawning.

I got up and turned my radio on, grabbing clothes and hopping in the shower. After I washed up and wrapped a towel around me I brushed my teeth. A good song came on and I started to dance. I got dressed and started on my hair.

Another good song came on and I started to sing. I finished off my hair and jumped down the stairs, still singing.

"Good morning Bay."

I tripped on the last step, screaming as I went down. I threw my hands in front of me to catch myself. Before I hit the ground, a pair of hands shot out under me, catching me before I hit the ground.

I looked up to see Destery, fear on his face. He helped me to my feet, holding me steady.

"Are you alright?" He asked, the look of concern clear on his face. "I didn't mean to frighten you."

"I-it's alright." I said, slightly laughing. "What are you doing here?"

He looked at me and smiled a little.

"I-I thought I'd give you a ride to school. Your mom let me in. She told me to tell you that she's at work and to have a good day." He slightly grinned, looking adorable.

I nodded, giving him a small smile. We walked to my front door and out to his car. He opened the door for me, I smiled and slid in. Once he was next to me we drove off.

I turned the radio on, looking at Destery out of the corner of my eye.

"Thanks for catching me." I said, blushing a little.

"You're welcome. I didn't mean to scare you." He said for the second time.

I looked at him, guilt plastered on his face. I touched his arm, reassuring that it was alright.

"It's alright. I'm okay. You saved me... Once again."

We both laughed.

"So are you nervous? This is your first day of school."

It took him awhile to answer. Picking his words carefully as if he would offend me if he said something bad about Belmont High School.

He ended up just shrugging.

"It's not a big concern to me. I already have friends."

He looked at me, his big brown eyes cutting into me. It was the way he looked at me that had me holding my breath. He was so gorgeous and perfect. I feared to touch him as if he would disappear in a single touch.

We pulled up to the school. I looked at Destery, a bit of worry on his face. I took his hand and squeezed. We got out of the car and everyone was staring. I quickly walked to Desterys side.

"Don't mind them. Just ignore them. They're all fake." I mumbled to him.

He nodded, letting me know he heard. After we got Desterys schedule, I showed him where his classes were. It was time for first block.

"Well I have to go. We don't have first block together but every other class we do." I gave him a hug. I felt him tighten his grip around me, not wanting to let go.

I pulled away, "Go. You don't want to be later on your first day." I smiled.

He grinned a small grin and turned to walk in his first class. I rushed down the hall and down the stairs, bursting through the door of my first class.

"Where have you been?" Ms. Harper asked, sounding annoyed that I was late... Again.

"It was my friends first day and I was showing him around. Trying to make him comfortable." I said as I sat down in front of my assigned computer.
