Chapter 5

Maddie

"Are you really sure this is a good idea?" Ben asked

We were currently sat in his car, in the dark under some trees. 

"Yes, if he is cheating on me, I wanna find out and who it's with" I replied

Since Ben and I had been having our talks, I began to grow more and more suspicious that Matt was seeing someone else behind my back. The most obvious person I could think of that it could be was Emma. 

"Do you have any idea who?" Ben asked

"Emma seems the most obvious" I said

I was beginning to grow bored just sitting here. We were sitting a bit further away from a local hotel in town. It was a long shot, I know but I had to know for sure. 

"You know we could have always went back to the cinema, see if Jack turned up again" Ben teased

I could only manage a small smile in response to his comment. 

"Let's go home, I'm getting tired and bored" I said

"If he is cheating on you, we will find out" Ben said but in a serious tone 

"And I will dump his ass" I joked

"Of course and then you will get with Jack" Ben smirked

Ben had just turned the engine to the car on and was about to pull out when something caught my eye. 

"Ben wait" I said quickly 

"Is that" Ben asked as he watched a familiar car pull into the hotel car park

"That's Emma's car" I said

We watched as the car stopped and Emma got out before making her way inside the hotel. 

"Do you think Matt is already here or gonna show up?" Ben asked

"I don't know, he could have walked here" I suggested

"We're going now" Ben said as he pulled out of the current parking spot we had taken up. 

Ben had dropped me off back home, he had offered to stay with me for a while but I insisted that he went home and got some rest and sleep for college tomorrow. I had a shower and began to get ready for bed, it was getting late but I couldn't sleep, I had too much on my mind. I was currently sat on the sofa, deep in thought. I was soon brought out of my deep thoughts by the sudden buzzing of my doorbell, sighing, I got up and made my way towards the front door. 

"Ben, I told you, I'm fine" I called as I opened the front door

I was smiling but got a shock when I opened the door properly. 

"Hey" Jack smiled

"Jack? What are you doing here?" I asked confused

"I met Ben, he mentioned that you could do with a friend" 

I took a moment to myself to wonder just what it was that Ben was playing at.

"I can go" Jack said

"No, it's okay, come in" I said as I moved the door so Jack could walk in

I closed the door after him and locked it before walking through to the living room and sitting down on the sofa. 

"Would you like a drink or anything?" I offered

"No, I'm good thanks" Jack smiled

"Ben told you where I live" I said

"Yeah he did, he also mentioned earlier, about the hotel" Jack replied
