Chapter 17

Maddie

I was now back in my apartment, I'm not gonna lie, it was a struggle to leave Jack and his place and I was scared to be back here alone but college started back the next day, since we didn't want anyone to know about us, I knew this was the best way. Besides, Ben had already got my door and locks changed. I decided that it was probably best for me to put a wash on while I still had time to do one. 

I had just put the washing machine on and was making my way to my room when a knock came to my front door. I instantly froze in place, that fear came rushing back to me. Had Matt been lurking about waiting for me to come back so he could get me on my own again? I began to panic, my breathing picking up fast as the knocking continued. I looked around for something to arm myself with but of course, I didn't have anything close by me. 

"Mads you in there?" That familiar voice came

Relief soon washed over me and I rushed over to the door, undoing all the locks and opening the door up. 

"Thank god, it's you" I said

"Of course it's me, who else is it gonna be?" Ben asked

"Doesn't matter, come on in" I smiled as I moved out the way and let Ben walk in. 

Once we were inside my apartment and I had locked the door, Ben embraced me in a friendly and welcome hug. 

"I've missed you bestie" Ben said as he squeezed me tight

"I've been around" I laughed

"Not since you and a certain person got together and you've been staying at his" ben pointed out

"I know, I'm sorry, the thought of coming back scared me in case..." I trailed off

"Hey, he's not gonna get the chance to hurt you, not again" Ben promised

Ben and I spent most of the night laughing and catching up on our missed time together. I didn't even need to worry about food since Ben ordered us food in over an app on his phone and insisted on paying for it. 

"So you and Jack" Ben said with a knowing look

"What about us? We're fine, we're going strong" I shrugged not really sure where it was he was going with this 

"Your more than going strong Mads, I've been speaking to Sonny, he lives in that house, he told me" 

"Told you what?" 

"Come on Mads, you know what, you and Jack, at his place, in his bed, need I say anymore?" Ben asked after pointing out the obvious 

"Oh right, well yes we have but we both consented to it, it felt right to me, to us both" 

"Mads, you do know that I am only teasing you? You don't need to prove your innocence to me or anything" Ben laughed

"I know, but we both know who is going to flip out when he finds out I've slept with my new guy" I sighed

"Screw him, he followed me around town when you were at Jack's. he thought you were at my place alone, he was going to go over and try and speak to you" Ben informed me

"Please don't Ben, I'm already dreading tomorrow" 

"Why did you come back here? Why not stay over at Jack's?" Ben asked 

"We don't want anyone else to know bout us just yet, so during breaks at college I wanna stay with you but at lunch is it okay if we sneak off and hang out with Jack and the others?" I asked
