Kayo's meltdown is astronomical. I have never seen this stone cold man acting so erratically. His large stature enabled him to toss his own team off of him with ease. It was almost as if blind rage was consuming him.
"Kayo! You need to fucking calm down!" I screamed into the hallway, trying to diffuse the ticking time bomb of a man.
He started to scream at me, running at me as if he was going to fight me next. I drew out my pistol and held it up, the safety still on. I had no intention of pulling the trigger. I just needed him to calm down.
He stopped in his tracks. He was acting weak. Rightfully so.
I watched him fall to his knees almost sobbing. Wolf came up behind him using a thick black zip tie to secure his hands behind his back. Kayo's head hung as he accepted his fate.
Once secured, Wolf placed a firm hand on his shoulder squeezing in a friendly manner. I slipped my gun back into its holster and helped Kayo sit on his ass up against the wall.
He wouldn't look at me. I could tell he was embarrassed by his actions, but no one in this hallway blames him for being emotional.
"She's alive, but shouldn't see her like this." I said kneeling down in front of him.
"I don't care how bad she is. I need to see her Phantom." He pleaded still avoiding any eye contact with me.
I nodded my head. There would be no reasoning with him to try and get him to wait for Jonesy to do his work.
"Calm down for a minute, I will check with Jonesy and see if we can have you on standby in there." I patted his shoulder, stood up and headed back into med bay.
The room was now dark with only a light above Ana's bed illuminating the corner where she was placed. Jonesy had her ankles in stirrups with a sheet draped over her knees.
"Jonesy what's going on?" I asked slightly disturbed by the sight.
He paused for a minute, sighing to himself trying to find the words.
"The pregnancy.. is no longer.. valid." He replied nervously as he looked like he was choking back emotions.
Fuck. Kayo is going to be devastated more than he already is.
When I first met him he was young, eager, full of life, and wanted a family. It's hard to have any sort of life once you dedicate yourself to special operations. There is no leave. There is no vacation. The only way you get out is in a casket or becoming a traitor and still resulting in the latter.
Kayo found his person and selfishly, so did I.
You wish that child was yours, selfish prick.
"He wants to see her." I cut the silence in two.
Jonesy looked at me shaking his head slightly.
"I can't stop him from wanting to see her and you know this. He will kick open this door and beat you bloody if you deny him." I warned but he knew it was true too.
"Just allow me to finish getting the remains first.. please." He said continuing to scrape the inside of Ana invasively.
I nodded in agreement, pulling a metal fold out chair from against the wall and sat down with the back of it against my geared chest. The metal creaked under my weight but the least of my worries were breaking a fucking chair. The headache crept back into my head as my eyes grew heavy. I felt relieved Ana was returned safe however the sleep I've lost in the time being was catching up to me.
Jonesy noticed my current state offering me a simple pain reliever. I declined feeling as if I should be punishing myself for leaving her behind to begin with.
"I wouldn't mind an adrenaline punch though." I said groggily resting my forehead on my forearm.
"I'm not giving you one. You need to sleep. I'm almost done addressing the miscarriage and then you can send him in." He says sternly. I've never seen him with such a backbone.
I glanced over at Ana's unconscious face, my eyes traveling to her arms extended upward leading to the restraints. I wish she didn't need them but we both knew she was a risk become combative if she woke.
Jonesy lowered her legs renewing the restraints around her ankles and gently pulling her body back up the bed so her head rested comfortably on the pillow.
He motioned for me to allow Kayo in. I opened the door and he was still stuck in the same position with his head hanging low.
"Kayo." I called out to him softly. He immediately pulled his head up finally meeting my gaze. He looked heavily distraught and fighting back tears.
Wolf helped him to his feet and freed his bound hands. I watched him rub his wrists as he brushed past me entering the room.
"Oh my god.. my sweet Ana.." Kayo rushed to her bedside, his voice cracking.
I wasn't sure this was a good idea.
