"great you're here" Tony pointed as soon as I got inside just trying to get myself free bottled water after my morning run
"What?"
"Fury is hosting a party here at the tower this evening"
"Really? What's the occasion?" I asked with confusion. Fury isn't the first person I think of in hosting parties so?
"uhh...the new shield was successfully established in Asia and we're celebrating their success basically...." he hesitantly says and I just know why
"Director y/n...she's gonna be here..huh"
well, she's my ex..she also used to be a shield agent like me, and yeah that's where we met..but then she got assigned to Asia, and turns out long distance relationship doesn't work with us but we both coped with it.
Not until the government decided to make another Shield and guess who they asked to be the director. I can't leave New York I'm constantly needed here and it's the same for her. our only choice was her choice or our responsibility to the world. it's pretty clear what's the answer
the last time I saw her was 8 years ago...we broke up over the phone 4 years ago...i think ill be okay. we've been together for 6 years...2 years together and 4 years long distance. I'm sure she also already moved on...so I'll just approach her and be an adult to not make this awkward
Fury suddenly texted me asking me to go to his office so I quickly drove there. he just made me work on some files while he worked on the hard copies "Have you heard about the party" he broke his silence and I just nodded not continuing the conversation
I feel like everyone is just asking me about it. I'm ok now. I've moved on...yes, I haven't been in a relationship after her but that doesn't mean I'm still stuck where she left me...or where I left her..
I finished my work and just went straight home to fix what I would wear later..my style has changed, I love masc outfits now so I'm pretty sure I'd be the hottest there
"Hmm... semi-casual...yeah, I think this would work.." I smiled staring at myself in the mirror with this Ralph Lauren zip-up jumper. It was a gift for myself
I drove my way back to the tower and everyone was already there talking to each other "What's with the head turns? Looking for someone?" Clint suddenly smirks beside me hitting me with his elbow
"What?? Of course not why would I look for her?"
"Her?? I didn't say anyone..her huh?" He teases even more laughing at me
"Please go away" I chuckled feeling my cheeks heat up for some reason
"Fine...but...emphasis on the 'she' look.." he pointed out making me look in front of me
There she was...talking to Fury and the other agents...I did not recognize her at all...last time I saw her she was masculine.. know boy cuts and tattoos and now she...has this really beautiful long hair looking so sophisticated in this brown open suit
She's giving this major strong feminine energy just smiling and nodding at everyone approaching her
"Oh my god, is that y/n?" One of the group of agents lay beside me
"Oh wow..she looked more like a man than we do before..how??? I'll go send my wife to Asia" he nodded
Y/n suddenly looked at us and I could see the sharpness of her glare but she just smiled and before I even knew it she was already walking in my direction
OH MY GOD, WHAT AM I GONNA DO??? MY BODY WON'T MOVE, HOW IS SHE WALKING FASTER NOW??? WHAT'S HAPPENING???
"M-Ma'am.." the agents beside me greeted her
"Hello" she smiled at them before facing me again
"It's been a while" She took a deep breath
"Y-Yeah.." I can't SPEAK
"How have you been?"
"G-Good..."
"Are you ok??" She chuckled nervously frowning her brows
"Oh, there you are! Oh, you two already seen each other?? Nat wants me to tell you if you two can speak privately" Clint came out of nowhere...I swear I will grab one of those arrows and stab him with it
"Oh that's not a problem, I think I can spare a minute" she smiled at me. A minute???? You lived with me before and can't even breathe when you haven't seen me in A MINUTE
Before we could even go fury approached her again pulling her with him to talk to some more people. "Talk to you later?" I sigh to myself before sitting at the bar
"A long island" I nodded while watching y/n be surrounded by agents giving her some drinks looking like leaches all over her
After a while, she finally got out of their sight, and she went right to the balcony with her drink "Y/n?" I cleared my throat getting her attention
"I-I want to apologize" I swallowed thickly getting all the Courage left but quickly noticed how drunk she already is
"For what? Banner? For all the verbal abuse? For manipulating me? Or maybe for lying?" She firmly asks holding back her emotions
"Y/n--"
"I gave you e-everything...and you think an apology will fix me?"
"I know...I know...I've been the worst girlfriend...and I do regret everything I did. I know how much you love me and I'm so sorry for being shitty"
"Y-You....you destroyed me, and no, I-'m not ok" she sobbed still trying to stop herself from crying "You killed me, not once, not even twice...and I worst part? I can't fucking forget you, I still waited that you'll come back t-to me" she added still in the same expression making my heart drop
I don't know what to say to her, I cut her too deep..."T-The way you look at me, the way y-you hold me, they just don't feel like you." She looked at me straight in the eyes
"I...I want you back" I know it's not the right time it's the worst time. I DON'T KNOW WHY I SAID IT
She shook her 'no' looking down " I pity myself, Nat. It's too hard to stop loving you" She gave me her drink walking past me.

We just had our meeting about the accords and yes all the fighting and stuff. I did talk to Tony but as soon as I walked away y/n approached me "Choose your side wisely" she whispered before going to Fury's office

"On your knees! Hands on your head!" Suddenly I'm surrounded, all guns aiming at me
"Stand up," This cocky one says chuckling so annoyingly and pointing his gun at my forehead
I was filled with confusion seeing y/n, but the agents were more confused than me By the look on their faces "Take down your ego at your level" she huffed to the agent
