Chapter 151

Meeting Looker

And

Ash VS Paul

Today the gang was on a train that would take them to Lake Acuity. It wasn't long till it was time for Ash to have a full battle against Paul. Since the gang were no longer in the cold section of Sinnoh, they were not wearing their warm clothes anymore. Ash had been carefully thinking about what pokemon he was going to use against Paul and now he knew what six pokemon to use. "So Ash what are you thinking about?" said Dawn. "Well Dawn;" said Ash "I'm thinking that my pokemon and I will show Paul how much we've grown the last time we battled him. I mean as you remember Paul has looked down on me and my pokemon ever since we first met. But now I will teach him a lesson about looking down on us". The others understood Ash's feelings.

Just then a man wearing a brown coat came up to the gang. "Hi there," said the man "would you kids like some lunch box bentos? I somehow ended up buying too many lunchbox bentos". "Well I do feel hungry, so yes I'll take one please" said Ash. "I want one too please" said Tomo. "Me as well please" said Dawn. "Same here please" said Brock. So the man gave some of his lunchbox bentos to the gang. The kids introduced themselves to the man and the man introduced himself as Looker. Looker still had more lunchbox bentos and he decided to give some to the train driver, the engineer and the assistant pokemon. Brock explained there was an electric pokemon that powered the train. "I wonder what kind of electric pokemon it is?" said Dawn.

The answer turned out to be an Ampharos; the gang decided to see the pokemon with Looker. Ampharos's electric power not only powered the train, it also helped the train when it came to steep climbing's and starting at a full stop. The train engineers were very happy to have Ampharos part of the team.

Suddenly the train driver noticed a red light signal and he stopped the train. He then phoned the railway center for information on the red light. It seemed though there was no danger ahead for a red signal and the signal was not malfunctioned either. "Why is the signal red then?" asked Tomo. The engineer had a feeling there might be some unreported trouble up ahead, so he decided to go out and have a look. Looker said he would go too to help out just in case. As the train wasn't going anywhere for a while, the gang decided to have lunch outside with all of their pokemon. Thanks to Looker giving the gang lunchbox bentos, Brock didn't need to cook this time.

Meanwhile the engineer and Looker had come to a junction with some points. Looker was staring at the two different set of tracks, while the engineer checked everything in a shed. "Obviously this other track hasn't been used for a while," Looker said to himself "but it looks sort of brand new due to no rust there". The truth is Looker was a detective and he was investigating the matter because something didn't feel right to him. The engineer came out of the control shed and he told Looker that someone had changed the controls and the track switch. "They must have done it deliberately;" said Looker "that way our train would stop and they would use the abandoned track. It's simple to know that when you take a good look". The engineer told Looker to get back to the train while he checked the next junction ahead. "I'll make a full report on this" said the engineer. But while the engineer ran up the track, Looker secretly went down the abandoned track to investigate.

At that time the gang had finished their lunches and Ash decided to do some training before it was time to face Paul. "Okay Pikachu, Staraptor, Grotle, Lucario, Chimchar and Empoleon it's time to train" he said. Pikachu, Staraptor, Grotle, Lucario, Chimchar and Empoleon were the six pokemon Ash decided to use. "Okay first up we'll do some stretching and running exercises and then we'll work on your moves" said Ash. He and his pokemon got to work at once and Dawn, Tomo and Brock watched. "I hope Ash will win his match;" said Dawn "I mean don't get me wrong he is a very strong trainer, but whenever those two battle well Paul turns out to be stronger". "Yes but Ash has trained hard since he last battled Paul," said Brock "and anyway when it comes to battles Ash has more heart with his pokemon than Paul does". "That's true" said Dawn.
