"so whose idea was it to fake date?" george asks me as we eat. "i have a bet going with dream, so we're dying to know the answer."
"oh, it was my brother's idea," i reply casually. dream nearly chokes on his water and george's jaw drops. both of their heads turn to sapnap, who gives them a nod of confirmation.
"your... brother?" dream asks.
"mhm," sapnap confirms.
"it wasn't your idea?" george asks, pointing at sapnap.
"no."
"it wasn't yours?" dream asks, pointing at me.
"no." i raise an eyebrow in confusion. "i just said it was my brother's."
dream and george look at each other with perplexed expressions while sapnap tries not to laugh.
"so what do we do now that we both lost the bet?" george asks.
"i guess we both owe each other ten bucks," dream replies.
"that's a dumb idea."
"it was your idea to bet in the first place!"
"okay well, who was more open to the idea?" george turns to sapnap and me again.
"me. he was actually very reluctant to agree," i admit, nodding at sapnap.
"very," sapnap emphasizes, rolling his eyes.
"come on, it hasn't been that bad. i've been a joy recently!"
"it's been two days."
"i've been a joy for two days!"
"that's nothing to brag about."
"it's a lot to brag about when it's me."
"look at them," dream whispers to george, loudly enough so sapnap and i can hear. this catches our attention and we start listening in. "already arguing like an old married couple."
"should we bet on when they will get married?" george sniggers back.
"we heard that!" sapnap snaps.
"and don't think about betting about that, because it's never going to happen," i say while watching some cheese very slowly slip off my pizza. "it's a fake relationship."
"a good romance starts with a burning mutual hatred and pining," dream shrugs. the three of us stare at him in disbelief as he shares glances between us innocently. george giggles quietly to himself, contemplating if he should say the joke that just popped into his mind. ultimately, of course he does.
"and a bad romance starts with rah, rah-"
"-SHUT UP!"

shortly after dinner, dream and george leave the house to do god knows what. they briefly explained their late night rendezvous at dinner, but this big shot minecraft youtuber talk tends to confuse the hell out of me, so most of what they had said went in one ear and out the other.
"we have the house to ourselves now," sapnap teases as he walks over to the couch i'm sitting at. he sits down, his cheesy grin never leaving his face. "what do you suggest we do with it?"
"take advantage of this huge ass tv," i reply, not feeding into his jokes. "you said we could watch a movie when they leave."
"we could turn on a movie, if you're into ambiance like that."
"or we could watch a movie."
"humor me, will you?"
"no."
