My New Assistant

It's been a week since Maya started working at Deluca Designs. To say working for Carina was difficult is an understatement. The job itself was easy. Maya had gotten the hang of things by the third day. It was Carina's constant attitude and mood that Maya was tired of. After she watched Gio while she went to the meeting she had it was like Carina was a completely different person. She always found something to complain to Maya about. If it wasn't for Andrew Maya would have quit the next day. If carina wasn't locked in her office all day she was upset because Maya didn't call to let her know she was going to lunch or she was upset because Maya brought her a cappuccino instead of an espresso or vise versa. In all honesty Maya didn't have to even bring her coffee. She was just being nice.

It was Friday and Maya was dreading going to work. She turned in bed to grab her phone from the nightstand and turn off her alarm. She groand looking at the time. She made her way out of bed and went to take a quick shower. She was finding any excuse for her to call Carina and say she couldn't make it. After her shower she went to the kitchen to find Andrew drinking coffee.

"Here you look like you need it." Andrew said with chuckle and handing Maya his mug of coffee.

"Shut up. I really don't feel like dealing with your sister's attitude today." Maya said as she laid her head down on the counter top after taking a drink of the coffee.

"Trust me I know how hard headed Carina can be. She's an Italian after all." Andrew said pouring himself more coffee.

"It's not that she's hard headed it's her attitude. Nothing I do is ever right. I get that she doesn't like me and trust me I don't either but I'm at least trying to be professional with her but God she makes it so damn hard." Maya said taking a breath.

"Tell you what. If you can survive one more day with her, I'll take us to a bar. Drinks are on me." Andrew offered making Maya lift her head up to look at him with a smile. They used to do that every weekend.

"Fine. Deal." Maya said before getting up to grab her phone that was ringing.

"You have a work phone for a reason Maya. When I call you answer." Maya heard on the phone. Carina.

"Crap. It's dead. I was going to charge it last night but-" Maya began to say.

"Stop with the excuses Maya! I have a last minute meeting at another location. Be ready in 20 minutes. I'm picking you up." Carina said before hanging up.

"Ugh for fucks sake can today be any worse?" Maya said as she made her way to her room to put her work phone on the charger.

"It will be worth it tonight!" Andrew called out to her before leaving the apartment to go to work.

Maya had only been in the car for 10 min and already she had the urge to kill Carina. If it wasn't for the driver that was driving them Maya would have told Carina everything she was thinking.

"I hope you charged your work phone." Carina said not looking up from her phone.

"I did." Was all Maya said before starting to put her ear buds in.

"Did the CEO of Elite Designs respond to the email I told you to send yesterday?" Carina asked looking back at her phone.

"What email?"Maya asked confused.

"What do you mean what email? The one I asked you to send yesterday. I texted you about it." Carina said lifting up her head to look at Maya confused.

"You didn't tell me to send anything. If you did I would have done it." Maya said taking out her work phone.

"Maya I know I told. If you would keep the phone on you like I asked you, you would have gotten the message." Carina said annoyed as she rolled her eyes at Maya.
