"I was the stupid to let my papa ruin my life not once but twice. I... I never stopped having feelings for you Maya..."

Shocked was an understatement for Maya. She never thought that Carina would still have feelings for her. Especially after years and after she intentionally cheated on her. Yeah sure for most people it was just a kiss but when you have a whole future planned out with the person who swore would never hurt you and who swore loved you everything hurts a hundred times more. Seeing carina kiss someone else broke her completely. She thought Carina loved her like she had said multiple times to her.

"Mamma! Mamma!" Gio said as she came into the kitchen crying.

"Hey what's wrong amore." Carina asked as she carried Gio in her arms.

"I had a bad dream." Gio said as she cried into Carina's neck.

"It's ok bambina it wasn't real. You're ok." Carina said comforting Gio but nothing she said seemed to work.

"Hey Gio it's ok. Want to know what my mom did each time I had a nightmare?" Maya asked Gio as she held her hand.

"What did she do?" Gio asked Maya now looking at her.

"Well she would warm me up a glass of milk and then read me an extra bedtime story. It worked every time. Want to try?" Maya said looking at Gio with a smile.

"Yeah, I'll try." Gio said sniffling now.

Once Gio agreed to it Maya took Gio back up stairs to pick out a book while Carina warmed up the milk. When it was done she went up stairs to see that Gio was in a much better mood. She was laughing and smiling at the voices Maya was doing for the characters in the book. Carina sat down next to them and they all took turns reading a part of the book. Before the book was finished Gio ended up falling asleep along with Carina. Maya carefully got up and covered both of them with a blanket. She left the room quietly so Carina wouldn't wake up.

She wasn't ready to talk about what Carina had said to her. It's not that she didn't have feelings for Carina because she did. In all reality she never stopped having feelings for her she was just scared. She trusted Carina once and she destroyed her. She was terrified of being hurt again.

The next morning Carina woke and realized she wasn't in her room but in Gio's room. She looked down at Gio who is sound asleep and was slightly snoring. After a few minutes she gently lifted the blanket and got out of bed careful not to wake up Gio. She wondered why Maya didn't wake her up last night. Maybe she didn't want to see her after last night. She went ahead and called Maya but she didn't answer. In all honesty she was hurt that Maya would be so dismissive. Carina quickly did her morning routine before heading downstairs to make her cappuccino.

As she made her way downstairs she noticed Maya was asleep on the couch. At first she was confused but then found relief. She quietly went up to Maya who was in what seemed like a deep sleep. She looked so peaceful. Her hair was messily sprawled out on the pillow. She was also snoring slightly. Carina couldn't help but chuckle. Maya had spent the night with her many times when they were younger and it amused Carina that Maya still slept the same.

Carina kept admiring Maya and all her facial features. She looked so beautiful. Carina was in her own world staring at Maya.

"Stop staring you creep." Maya said still with her eyes closed making Carina jump a bit.

"Maya! You scared me!" Carina said as she playfully smacked Mayas shoulder.

"Well maybe if you wouldn't be staring then you wouldn't have gotten scared." Maya said laughing a bit.

"Shut up. I thought you were gone." Carina said as she sat down next to Maya on the couch.

"I was but then I realized how tired I was after drinking the glass of wine. I didn't think it was safe for me to drive that tired. I mean I could've called an Uber to pick me up..." Maya said while looking at her hands on her lap.
