Getting sleep felt impossible for Carina. Every time she would close her eyes it's like she was reliving the nightmare again. She looked over at Maya and she was fast asleep with her arm around Gio. She loved the life that they were creating together. She tried for another 30 min to fall asleep but it was useless. She decided to go downstairs and make herself some hot tea and see if that helped her calm her nerves.

She gently got out of bed being careful not to wake Maya or Gio in the process before grabbing her robe and headed downstairs. Carina put her tea on the coffee table before she turned on the TV and leaned back on the sofa, taking a deep breath.

She was exhausted. She felt like she had lived an entire week in just one day. Every time she closed her eyes she relived that moment. Antonio pointing the gun at her or at Maya. She couldn't get the feeling of Antonio's lips on hers when he kissed her. She felt dirty or like she had somehow betrayed Maya. She wanted to scream and yell for hours until she could forget that moment.

After she finished her tea she turned off the TV and went to the kitchen to put her cup away. She was so deep in thought that she didn't hear Maya coming downstairs. She practically screamed when she felt hands on her waist turning around immediately.

"Maya! Don't do that!" Carina said as she tried to push Maya away but Maya just held her tighter.

"Hey... I'm sorry baby I didn't mean to scare you I just didn't see you in bed and I got worried..." Maya said in a  whisper as she held Carina who nodded and took a deep breath.

"I couldn't sleep so I came to make myself some tea so I could calm my nerves. I didn't want to wake you and Gio up." Carina said hugging Maya now.

"Hey... You could have woken me up baby... I want to be there for you if you need me." Maya said as she hugged Carina closer.

"I know I should have said this earlier instead of yelling at you, but thank you bambina. Thank you for standing up for me and Gio when I was so scared I couldn't think straight. Thank you for worrying about me and our bambina. Thank you for going after me when I was crazy enough to go to that place alone and tell you not to say anything to the police and for being there for us. I don't know what would have happened if you weren't there with me." Carina said with tears in her eyes as she held Maya's hands.

"You don't need to thank me my love. I would have done the exact same thing if I knew where Gio was." Maya said making Carina's smile grow.

"I... I know I seemed strong and so sure when I told Antonio to shoot me but in reality I was so scared... I was even more scared of losing you and Gio and that made me think of how we didn't have enough time together." Maya said with tears in her eyes.

"Hey.... But you're here... Yes what you did was extremely stupid but you are here and we have each other... Now that Antonio is gone we have one less person to worry about." Carina said making Maya smile and nod.

Carina took Maya's hand and led her to the couch where they sat. They still weren't tired so they chose to watch a movie to calm their minds.

"I love you." Carina said looking up placing a gentle kiss on Maya's lips.

"I love you more my love." Maya said with a smile.

"That's impossible...." Carina said making Maya giggle.

Maya smiled and pulled Carina in for a kiss. She was never as good with words as Carina was, but she was always good with actions. Their lips met gently, tasting each other. It took a while for Carina to bite the blonde's lip and ask for her passage with her tongue, which she was granted and very well received.

Maya ran her hand up Carina's spine to the back of her head, wrapping her fingers in her hair and pulling her towards her. She does not know the exact moment Carina climbed onto her lap, but she liked that feeling, their bodies so close, so glued to each other.
