The trio decide to go have lunch at a small restaurant and it would've been fun like it usually is, if it weren't for the awkwardness that's going on. Jisung and Changbin are quieter than normal and Jin wouldn't have minded it if it also weren't for the fact that they made these plans right after his court appearance. He feels like they're walking on eggshells for him and he hates it. He doesn't want to be pitied.
"So have you guys been here before?" Jin asks to break the silence and the two look at each other before one of them answers.
"No but someone I know said the food was really good," Changbin responds and the silence returns. Jin purses his lips and sits up right, causing the other two to look at him. He's not sure if he's just looking into it wrong but the look on their faces, they seem worried? As if they did something wrong.
"Please don't act any different around me. I'm still me, the one you befriended from the beginning. You learned about something dark that happened to me, yea, but please don't let that change your perspective of me. My trauma doesn't define me," he says and the other two start to look guilty.
"We're sorry. We wanted to take you out somewhere to comfort you and let you know we're still here for you. But we're not sure what to do as to not make you feel uncomfortable," Jisung admits and Changbin nods.
"We don't want to accidentally do something that'll make you feel bad or upset. But unfortunately, we did just that."
Jin smiles softly, understanding where they're coming from. "It's okay. I wouldn't know what to do either to be honest. But I can tell you right now that just you guys being here and including me helps a lot. I'm glad to know you still want to be my friend."
The two smile back.
"Of course. Is there anything else we can do?" Jisung asks.
"Just act like you normally do. Your goofy selfs always lift my spirits up," he says with a big toothy smile, something he feels he hasn't done in so long.
"You got it."
They finally order food after eyeing the menu for a couple of minutes. As they wait, Jin taps his fingers on the table.
"Is something wrong?" Jisung asks, noticing his fidgeting.
"I don't know," Jin says, biting his lip. "Like, it's more stressful than anything."
He sighs as the two wait for him to continue.
"It's a long story but to sum it up, someone from my university is asking for another chance to be in my life. He wants to date me but I don't know if I'm ready for that."
"Well, do you like him?" Jisung asks and Jin protrudes his lips.
"I think so? I mean, I know I used to back then. But in a way, it feels like I owe him since he helped in the court case."
"Does it seem like that's what he's trying to do or is it anxiety?" Changbin asks a valid question.
"No. He said he would give me time to think it over and consider the possibility. So yea, I guess it's my anxiety getting the best of me," Jin admits, looking down.
"Personally, I would give it a trial run. Cause if I liked said person before, I could grow to like them again. Or maybe I couldn't, but it doesn't hurt to try," Jisung offers his advice.
"Yea. I'm assuming you had a talk about it right?" Changbin asks and Jin nods. "Then he has an idea of what to expect. He knows your terms and from what it sounds like, he's willing to respect that. I agree with Jisung. I would give it a try but if it seems like there's no hope for it, then I would be up front about it and tell him then and there."
