"Have they given you your dorm room yet?" My mother asked as we unpacked everything from the car, "no, they said I have to go in there and get it." I informed her.

She sighed and put her hands on her hips, "well let's go then." We started walking towards the large building where all the other students were entering.

The sounds of overflowing voices coming from administration, parents, and students was overwhelming to me.

i hate social settings.

"cmon, there's a line over there." I said pointing to a line of students. Above it said "Dorm Rooms" so I just assumed that's where we belonged.

We walked up to the line and stood behind a boy with long curly hair. He was shorter than me, well build, and light skin.

"Oh my god!" My mom exclaimed—grabbing only a few people's attention.

"what?" I asked quietly, "I haven't seen one of those in years!" She said ebulliently pointing at the dance group across the room.

girl...

"mom can you—"

"Hold on, i'll be right back!" She said bolting to the area the group was. I sighed in embarrassment and looked back ahead of me. The guy in front had turned around and was looking at me with a slight smile.

"i-i'm sorry for her..." I said—humiliated at my mothers over dramatic antics.

"it's fine, my mother is actually over there herself." He said chuckling. I returned his giggle with a smile and he spoke, "My names Luca, Luca Harris" He introduced himself.

I know this is the part where I say my name, but I just stared like a person who doesn't know how to be decorous at all.

He smiled at my silence, "what's your name?" He said turning around fully.

"oh.. uh.." I forgot my fucking name. this is why I don't need to be in social situations, "My name's Angelo." I said gathering my thoughts.

He put his hand out and introduced himself once more, as if i didn't hear him the first time, "Luca, Luca Harris."

did he not already say that

I shook his hand awkwardly and cringed to myself, "who are you here with?" He asked looking around me, "my mom..?" I said unsurely in response.

He chuckled, "I mean—where are your friends. Didn't anyone come here with you?" He asked.

My eyes drifted side to side and I connected my hands on my back, "......no"

He gave me a confused look and examined my appearance, "odd, the way you look—"

"wait what? is there something wrong with the way I look?" I said panicked looking myself up and down.
