"where you going?" Jeremiah scared me. I jumped at his deep voice coming from behind.

"I thought you were sleep," I drained the temporary fear from my heart.

"I've been awake for about an hour, my eyes are just closed," He said sitting up and looking at me.

"weird," I threw a smile at him, one that he returned.

"—I was just gonna go study with Luca," I gave a dry and white lie.

He scrunched his eyebrow and turned his head at me with an unsure smile, "Luca hates studying, and you hate studying with people, why are you lying?" He asked

he knows you too well.

I sighed, "you don't have to question me every time you suspect i'm lying. It's just an easier way of saying i'm going to Luca's dorm to talk about people and do stupid shit,"

"mm," He hummed, "You have to admit, i'm getting better,"

"Better at?"

"Learning you. You come across as such a puzzle yet i've learned so much in such little time," He complimented himself.

"Kudos to you," I gave a teeth filled smile.

A few seconds of comfortable silence came across us as he completed his daily morning checkup on his phone.

"I saw you and Jolece talking yesterday," He had an eager look on his face, clearly trying to see where my head was at with her.

"yeah?" I shrugged.

"you like her?"

I glared at him, "i guess you could say she's cool, what did you tell her about me?"

He portrayed a guilt look, similar to a kid after breaking their mother's vase, "Oh—you know about that?"

I nodded my head and crossed my arms, leaning up against a wall.

"Your name just came up and she asked who you were," He said—clearly prevaricating.

"And you told her i'm a friendless wannabe
popular?" I tilted my head.

"No! I just told her that you have a desire to open up and be friendlier to people, but you find it hard to so you have a very minimal circle of friends. She has a big heart, so she probably felt sympathy for what I said and came up to you," He explained.

"Then how did she know what I looked like?" I grew suspicious.

"She didn't. Probably saw me talk to you at some point in the game and put a face to a name." He spoke authentically.

mhm.

"right...okay," I squinted my eyes at him, half believing his words

"What? you don't believe me?" I felt him stand up as I turned back around for the door.
