I let Jeremiah sit with that information for a few days before figuring out how to get through to Angelo. I decided that if I wasn't going to be on either side, i'd just play mediator.
I would never concede it aloud, but Chief unquestionably sabotaged their relationship.
He knew exactly what he was doing when he started investigating me and Angelo's conversation. He was mad, so he reacted.
"where you bout to go?" Chief put his hand in front of me. The approach startled me—forcing a jump out of me.
"places," I prevaricated—fully cognizant that he would only ask further.
"Luca." He beheld me sternly with a mug.
I groaned dramatically, "I'm going to fix what you destroyed." I riddled him.
He turned his head, "what are you talking about?". His confusion was genuine, "Angelo and Jeremiah. I know you planned to break them up."
Chief face relaxed—revealing his little regret for what he did, "what makes you think that?"
"Chief, i don't have time to play the guessing game. I'm going to see my best friend." I moved his hand from my chest sassily, "any concerns about that?"
He glared me up and down—his eyes low to cause a slight tint, "nah, you good."
I thought so. I moved past him and out the door, waiting a few seconds to move after I closed it behind me.
I texted Angelo, questioning his whereabouts. I find it extremely hilarious how he thought he could just ghost me for a month. I've let him have his time, but i can't go another day without making sure he's at least okay.
After some protesting, he finally revealed that he was in room '213', Von's room. I began following the numbers attached to each room all the way to the first floor.
210......211.....212......
'213'
I stood on the tip of my toes and knocked on the door jubilantly. Part of me was worried Von would be the one to answer, but luckily it wasn't.
The door slowly opened—revealing a malnourished Angelo.
When I say malnourished, I mean malnourished in all senses; physically, mentally, emotionally, etcetera.
My entire face scrunched in confusion, the Angelo I know would never let himself look like this.
"are you going to come in or are you going to stare at me?" He broke me from my trance.
