With Luca's help, a lot of the stresses I had dissipated. I felt safer around the topic with Jeremiah—with Luca only at least.
There was a big piece of me that wanted to see him now with my newly rediscovered confidence.
"are you even paying attention?" He referred to the old 'Child's Play' moving we were watching.
"no, not really." I told the truth, "yea me either." he admitted.
He readjusted himself on the bed to sit up and fix his eyes on me, "what're you thinking about," his eyes lowered.
"jeremiah, duh." My face heated at his name alone. "i miss him real bad,"
He groaned, "i'm tired of hearing of him already. have you two even spoken yet?"
I shook my head, "no, i've been meaning to reach out to him and ask to meet him."
Luca yelped dramatically—hence everything he does being dramatic, "Don't do that!" He advised harshly.
I scrunched my eyebrows together tightly, "why not?"
"Because!" He poorly reasoned, "I want to be the one to set you two up!"
"Luca, that's beyond unnecessary. Plus, you've already done enough. I'll text him later and set something up—hoping he wants to converse with me." I rolled my eyes at him.
"that's not how this is supposed to work." he complained, "i went out of my way to not side with you or my boyfriend, i chose being the mediator. you will let me finish my job by setting you two back up." He finished.
"is that really needed? i just want my man back." I whined. A lot of the stuff Luca does is strictly performative or for flattery to himself. That typically meant whenever he planned to do something, it was likely going to be done when he felt it had to be.
"i'll text him right now," He said, "i can literally have you two back together within the week." His arrogance poked its head. Luca was also very confident in the things he did—always so sure that he could do it so cleanly and effortlessly.
I liked that about him. Whenever he has a passion for something, he does whatever is in his power to fix it when it's broken.
I stared at him in contemplation. Although I wanted to fix everything between me and Jeremiah myself, I couldn't resist Luca's pleading.
"fine. only because i trust you." I gave in dutifully, "but this better go good." I shot my eyes back at him.
His arms flew up in jubilance and a cheeky smile found his face. I was witnessing a childish look—one you'd see on a kid after receiving a treat. Granted, everything about Luca was tied to being a child and his overall adolescence
including his happiness.
He yanked his phone from his pocket and his fingers typed away.
"Oh shit!" He called out—my heart sinking, "What?! Is it Jeremiah?" I wondered fervently.
