The first person that Brooke and Stefan had gone to, to try and find a way to save Damon was Bonnie of course. She was a witch and even if she didn't have an accurate answer, she might be able to contact someone who did.
Stefan's best idea was for her to contact her ancestor Emily, who had known Katherine, and knew all about the wolves in Mystic Falls.
So the three of them had gathered in the basement of the wold witch house, and Bonnie had prepared herself for the spell
"I'm not sure this is going to work" she warned them
Brooke shrugged "You've done a séance before, right? Contacted Emily Bennett. Maybe one of the witches might know how to help Damon"
Bonnie nodded, but she didn't look confident. "Let's just hope they want to"
She closed her eyes, and began to mutter the spell under her breath. The candles in the room burst into flames, and her face screwed up with confusion as the spell strengthened.
"Bonnie?" Brooke asked, concerned by her friend's expression. "Bonnie?"
Her eyes suddenly snapped open. "Emily" Her voice was no longer her own, and it was Emily speaking through her. "Why have you come here, Stefan?"
Nervously, he replied "I need your help. I need to know if there's a spell that can heal a werewolf bite"
She shook her head. "No. Nature ensures a balance to everything"
Brooke hissed. "Is that true... or are you just saying no because it's Damon?"
"Perhaps it is his time to die" said Emily
The Salvatore narrowed his eyes. "No. That's not balance. That's punishment"
She did not look afraid, and replied evenly "I will not give you what you want"
Brooke raised her eyebrows "So you're saying that there's an answer to give?"
Emily did not answer, so Stefan begged "Please, if you know something, just tell me. Help me save my brother"
A beat passed and then she screamed loudly, clutching her head in agony.
"Bonnie!"
She collapsed to the floor, and panted through the pain, "They don't want us here. They think I'm abusing their power"
Stefan shook his head. "They know something. There's an answer. They just don't want to tell me"
"Yeah. I heard them say a name" Bonnie replied weakly
"What was it?" asked Brooke
Bonnie sighed deeply, a fearful look in her eyes. "Klaus"
Of course, the only way out of this would be through the hybrid who wanted to kill them all, which meant there was little to no chance that he would help them after they tried to have him killed.
