After Elijah's departure Brooke had not been the same

After Elijah's departure Brooke had not been the same. Normally she would sulk or pout all day, but unusually this time she was just quiet. She went about her life, with no enthusiasm or energy, would speak only when necessary, and would only eat when her stomach felt desperate for food. Otherwise, she was silent, reserved, and cold.

Seeing reminders of him only hurt her more which was why Brooke had decided to head out of Mystic Falls with her sister to go and be with Abby Bennett during her transition into being a vampire.

Her sister was worried about her but they both had to focus their attention on Abby. That was the only way Brooke could cope without breaking down every moment of the day.

The first day had been the worst with all of the confusion and her heightened senses, but slowly Abby was becoming more accustomed to her life. However, the twins had to be the ones to retrieve blood for her since she was not comfortable with that yet.

"Hey!" Caroline said to their friend as they arrived with an ice box

"Hey" Bonnie smiled

"We totally lucked out." she said "The hospital just had a blood drive, so, I got some... O negatives, some a's, and, our personal favourites, B positive"

Bonnie nodded at them gratefully, and all three of them turned their eyes to Abby. She was stood in her garden, which used to be full of colour and life, but was now grey and empty of flowers.

The witch sighed "Yeah. I made her a daylight ring. She's just been standing out there all morning. I don't think she's taking this very well"

Caroline shrugged "Well, it's only been a few days since she turned. Your mum's still adjusting" She turned to her and called over the garden, "Miss Wilson? Why don't you come inside? You know, have something to drink"

Abby paused "I can't feel it anymore. My garden. It's gone. I can't feel anything"

That was all she said as she walked through her garden and then back inside the house.

"I don't understand" whispered Caroline

"Witches have a connection to the earth. We can literally feel nature. Life" explained Bonnie. She led the other two down into the garden, stopping by one of the empty flower beds, where she crouched down and focused her eyes on the dead flower in the dirt, and then the flower bloomed "When Abby became a vampire, she lost it. I don't know how to help her"

The vampires couldn't help either, given that they understood witches least of all.

So, Bonnie had to be the one to do her best to help her mother cope with the loss of her powers. But since she was uncomfortable around blood Brooke needed to help her get used to being a vampire.

She found Abby in her bedroom, sitting in the bay window and staring outside sadly.

"Hi" she said awkwardly "I wanted to bring you this" she placed down the O positive blood bag next to her.
