Brooke had hardly slept a wink all night after her fight with Damon, so when Elena called her the next morning, she sounded like she had a cold because of how dry her throat was, forcing her to clear it.
"Sorry" she said, rubbing her tired eyes "What's up?"
Elena sighed "Okay please don't be annoyed at me but I need to go after Klaus"
Brooke suddenly shot up, wide awake "What? What the hell, Elena? He's going to kill you!"
"You heard Katherine and Rose" she said "Klaus will kill everyone in this town unless we break the curse, and even if Stefan and Damon disagree, I can't let him do that. So I'm going to find Klaus first and do whatever I have to to save everyone else"
Brooke admired her friend's bravery, but she still knew how reckless this was. Going to Klaus would wind up with Elena dead, but hiding from him would end up with every one of their friends and family dead.
So, reluctantly, she gave in. "Okay, fine. What do you need from me?"
"Come with me" said Elena "Rose has a friend, Slater, who can contact him and I'm going after him and since you're the only other person who knows what Katherine said, I want you to come"
Brooke sighed "Alright. Where do you want to meet?"
Elena chuckled "About that. I'm parked outside"
Startled, Brooke glanced out of her bedroom window and laid eyes on Elena's car, indeed parked by her house. So she ended the phone call, grabbed her bag, and hurried downstairs.
However, as she neared the car she laid eyes on Elena's passenger, Rose. Of course she should have expected it, but after what she saw her and Damon up to yesterday, Brooke was in no mood to deal with her.
So she climbed in the back seat, avidly not looking at her.
"Hey" she said to Elena, before turning her attention to her window.
Elena was confused as she drove. On the way to Brooke's house she and Rose had been chatting a lot, and she knew Brooke loved to talk during car drives, but right now both women were sitting in utter silence, looking anywhere but at each other.
She wanted to ask what was going on, but during a car journey with two vampires was not the best place to do that.
So, she resorted to dealing with the silence for the whole drive, occasionally glancing at them to see if they would ever speak, but neither of them made a move to.
Eventually, she reached the address given to her by Rose, and the three women climbed out of the car, two of them incredibly relieved to no longer be stuck together. Rose took them inside the building they had parked by, and they climbed up a few flights of stairs before stopping in front of one of the apartment doors
