Chapter 8: Castle

"Thanks" I smiled happily after Calem swiped his card in my PSS "but... Are you sure you don't want to take my payment?" He waved his hands

"I would, but you seem tired" I raised a brow.

"What's that got to do with payment?" he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"Sorry, you kinda make me nervous" I blinked confused "You're just so... beautiful" I flinched and blushed. He chuckled and patted my head "Tell you what. How about you let me kiss you on the cheek as payment?" I blushed more and looked down shyly

"U-um... Okay" he smiled and leaned down towards me. I shyly moved away.

"Don't be shy. I did it before, remember?"

"Y-yeah... but the way you asked..." I covered my red face. He gently removed my hand, lifted my chin to meet his lovely blue eyes, and leaned in to kiss my cheek. He leaned back with a gentle smile on his face. His thumb was still on my chin

"How about we have breakfast together? I hear there's a castle in this town. They might know something about mega evolution" I smiled. That's right. I almost forgot about the whole mega evolution thing. With running from my dad through the route, hoping I was far enough from the city, I would've forgotten all about Sycamore's request if Calem didn't remind me

"Y-yeah..." he winked and he walked into his room that was across from mine. I stared at his door closing while holding my heart. Why is my heart beating so fast..?

I walked into my own room and fell on my knees weakly, then landed on my shoulder, whimpering from the pain on my back. "I thought it would heal by now like my bruises..." I dug into my bag to release Beeno. He looked at me worriedly "I think I just need a bath" I send out Bulbasaur while crawling to my bed to place my egg on it "Help me, you two" They helped stand me on my feet and walk to the bathroom so I could take a shower. Taking off my clothes was hard enough, the water that poured on my back made me hiss in pain

"Whats wrong with me..?" After my shower, I walked to my bed and laid on my stomach. Bulbasaur walked to my side and suddenly started glowing. I stared at her confused until her appearance looked different.

"You evolved..." she smiled and started putting something on my back from her flower. I winced and gripped my pillow, shutting my eyes in pain. She then started putting some leaves on my back like a cover-up, I believe... Like a bandage. I sighed in relief and started closing my eyes slowly. "That kinda feels good..." I sighed and fell asleep

I stared at the mirror, staring at my half-naked body. The bruises were healing. I think I can start wearing my shorts today. I put on a pair of jean shorts and a thin long sleeve shirt. After tying my shoes, I gently stroked my back and breath shakily. It still hurts, but not as much as I thought. The stuff Ivysaur put on my back must've worked a little, or for now

"Serena?" Calem's voice called after he knocked on my door "You okay?" I rubbed my sore eyes, got my egg in hand and opened the door, seeing Calem with the blue jacket I saw him in when I first met him. He frowned and came up to hold my cheeks "Were you crying?" I shook my head, pulling away and rubbed my eyes again

"No... I just haven't slept" I lied. He held my cheek and made me look at him

"Why not?" I forced a smile

"I'm fine, really" he sighed and nodded.

"Shall we?" He offered a hand. I took his hand and walked with him out the hotel building to a café nearby. I pulled my hair up, and put on my sunglasses, trying to avoid being seen from Nurse May
