A bunch of the kimono girls were surrounding me while measuring me like back at sky training school. Only this time, I felt like royalty getting dressed by their servants.
"Is this really necessary? I'm a size small, isn't that enough?" They all giggled together
"You have to wear Lady Valerie's design in a perfect fitting" Kimi said. I sighed and looked at my kimono the girls gave me for the festival on the dresser. It had a pretty material with beautiful red silk with white cherry blossoms. I don't think I ever wore a kimono before...
I then looked at the mirror to stare at a pure white kimono with beautiful blue snowflakes on the bottom, hugging my body comfortably. The color white is so soothing. "Why do you all serve Valerie? Do you always call female challengers a lady? You keep on calling me that" I asked
"We serve Lady Valerie because she's almost as important to Kalos as the Royals of Kalos" I looked at Ricki, the girl sewing on me, confused.
"Royals of Kalos?" the girls nodded.
"Lady Valerie is royalty, but she took care of the Princess of Kalos. There are many people in the Kalos region with royal blood today, but the one that Lady Valerie took care of was the most important royal of all. That being said, Lady Valerie doesn't care if She's royalty herself"
"She's really royalty? I didn't know there were people with royal blood in this region"
"Oh yes! There has been a King in Camphier Town" ah, where that castle was "there are two royals at Shalour City" I looked at her surprised, Shalour City? Does she mean Korena and Grandpa? Huh??
"There's one that became a legend 3,000 years ago" I nodded "The family of Parfum Palace, and there is, I believe, a queen of Kalos at the moment" what? "But no one calls her a queen. Like many royals, She doesn't rule anything, nor want to."
"What's her name?"
"She's the champion of Kalos, Diantha" I gasped.
"Diantha is a queen?!" No way!
"Yes, she's quite famous around Kalos for her acting and being the champion and all. The Pokémon League is at her castle. No one can beat her, and they can't because she's too strong. If you beat her, you'll become a royal by name."
"Well that doesn't seem fair" I frowned.
"Maybe, but if Lady Diantha had siblings, she would only let them take over. She's a real blood royal, so it's pretty tough. Don't take our word for it. It's just stories Lady Valerie told us"
"And besides," Rocky said "even if you become a royal by name, it's not like the people of Kalos care. You have to earn people's respect. A name is nothing to them. It's not like the royals rule Kalos anymore."
"And this princess that Valerie served?" I asked. The girls smiled and backed away from fixing my kimono.
"Everyone in Kalos loved her. She was so young when she died, that's why Lady Valerie throws this festival for her birthday, to remind people that the princess is still loved" I frowned.
"But if she died in a young age, how did she earn people's respect? Didn't you say-"
"This royal is different" Mimi smiled "before the princess, there were her parents and her ancestors. They protected the region in a way and gave off happiness. They never ask for anything in return and don't like accepting gifts. Like you, huh?" I giggled "they were helpful and generous. That's why they're still loved today."
"That's very nice."
"Do you like making people happy, my lady?" Jackie asked. I nodded
"I do! It makes me happy to see others happy!" They nodded, pleased
