Chapter 19: Necklace

"Serena!" Korena hurried over to me "Are you okay?! I'm so sorry! I didn't know what happened!" Lucario came over in a hurry next to Korena and bowed in apology. I just sat there, taking in everything I just saw...

Did I wash up from somewhere in a storm and mom found me? She really did give me an Espurr like I had seen... but my neighbor, Calem, was the one that offered her to me... Calem... We knew each other..? Since when we were neighbors? And where did that name Yvonne come from anyways..? Who was that Froslass? It was the one that said I would know where home is, right? or am I wrong..? Why can't I remember any of these images?

"It's fine..." Mawile walked up to me. I pet her head and relaxed more, later staring at her mega stone. Lucario started acting crazy after mega evolving, so will Mawile or Venusaur go through the same thing too..? I shook my head to brush off the thought

"What happened back there..?" She asked Lucario. It frowned and looked down.

"I don't know... The power was too much for me to take..." It frowned. Mawile glared and slapped its head.

"M-Mawile?" I flinched. Tears were running down her cheeks.

"You idiot! What makes you think you can hurt my master?!" She cried "I don't care if you had no control. You and this girl's bond are not synced together! It's obvious just by watching her battle with you!" I stared at her surprise "She didn't even tell you to do anything and you just did as you pleased! What kind of teamwork is that?!"

"Our bonds weren't synced together..?" Lucario replied confused

"No! and I'm sure now you realize your mistake, but telling you won't be enough" she closed her eyes and held her mega stone "Being one with your trainer. I know this from seeing a trainer be one with her Gardevoir. They knew much about mega evolution. They were one, they worked together, and they understood each other. You certainly were the opposite. Gardevoir didn't go crazy like you did because it shared its power with its trainer"

"You met someone who can mega evolve their Pokémon?" I asked. The two Pokémon looked at me surprised while Korena looked at me confused "sorry, I was talking to myself" I stood up and dusted my skirt.

"Are you sure you're okay? I for sure you-" she looked down "I really thought we could master this art... It looks like we couldn't really make a bond strong enough to control it" I smiled and placed my hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sure you can make your bond as one... Don't worry. Just make sure you work together and don't depend on Lucario to do all the work" she looked like she didn't know what to think or say, but smiled anyway

"I just feel so bad for what happened..."

"The power of mega evolution could be too dangerous at first" I turned around to see an old man walking up to us in sweatpants and wearing odd looking eyebrows

"Grandpa..." Korena frowned. The old man reached our spot and patted her helmet

"Don't let yourself down. Not everyone could do a successful evolution right. There would be some problems on the way before things could go smoothly" I looked down at Mawile and frowned. She reached up for my hand and smiled. I smiled back and looked back at the two. "Every Pokémon reacts to mega evolution differently. It looks like the power of the mega stone is too strong for your Lucario to handle right now" he explained
