Chapter 13: Wonder

Beeno and I arrived back in Ambrette Town. I know leaving Calem behind in the cave was wrong, but I'm sure he has a flying type to take him back here... Right?

I'm standing in a fossil lab, watching the assistant I met earlier in Glittering Cave putting the fossil I found in a machine as he typed in a keyboard.

"The fossil shall be restored soon. I've seen many of these kinds of fossils and restored them before. Their kind is taken to a freezing environment in this building so that they survive better. They shouldn't be out in regular environment unless you live in an icy climate that snows 24/7" I nodded and watched the machine shining "I would let you keep the Pokémon, but it's for it's safety."

"I understand. It would be nice to have another friend, but it's fine. Right Dratini?" I looked at her on my shoulder

"Dra!"

"I'm planning on going to a place where there's a snowy mountain up north. Maybe when I settle there one day, I can come back here and pick it up? I can take it to the mountain and visit it every day!" The scientist nodded

"That seems nice. I would gladly let you keep it here and come back for it later. You may also visit it here when you come back to town if you like."

"That would be awesome. Thank you so much!"

"No problem. So you said you found this fossil inside the wall?" I nodded "how did you know it was there?"

"I heard it cry" he stared at me surprised "ever since I went into the cave, I kept hearing mum! Mum! And I found the source of the sound in the wall. So I got my Rhyhorn and attacked the wall. When I picked up the fossil, I heard crying coming from it" I smiled "so I had to come and restore it... It must be lonely" the scientist smiled at me.

"You know what you mean" he thought to himself "Strange... didn't a specific family use to do that?" I looked at him confused during the time he used for himself before coming back to reality "but anyways, you must be one of the lucky ones. Even as fossils, you can hear the hearts of Pokémon."

"Hear the hearts of Pokémon?"

"Yes, you can comfort a Pokémon and understand them. It's a rare gift not many people possess" I see... "Or was it... uh... I can't remember" he said to himself

"That sounds nice" I smiled, not bothering to ask what he was talking about. The machine stopped glowing

"The restoring is complete" I can hear the crying I heard back in the cave more clearly!

"Mum! Mum!" It cried. The door opened, letting a four-legged blue Pokémon the size of Dratini walking out while crying its heart out.

"Oh, you poor little Pokémon" I frowned, squatting to its height. It stopped crying and stared at me with those cute watery blue eyes "there's no need to cry, come here" I opened my arms. It cried again and rushed over to me

"Mum! Mum!" It cried. I smiled and wrapped it around my arms.

"It's okay... I'm right here" the Pokémon is so small... It's about a foot and a half tall! It's so cute!

"My my..." The scientist said, walking up to us "the Amaura seems to be born prematurely.."

"Premature?"

"It's when a baby human or baby Pokémon is born too early before it's fully developed. We need to run some test on the child" the Amaura cried when the scientist tried reaching for it "I won't hurt you, honestly!" Amaura shook its head and shot powder snow at his face. I cupped my mouth surprised "okay" he puffed the snow out his mouth "maybe you should carry the child with you" I nodded and carried it in my arms "please follow me" I nodded and followed him to a room with a table while Amaura cuddled with me
