Who are You Trying to Convince?

The night turned to day as you woke in your comfortable bed. You left the maroon dress on the nightstand next to you. You couldn't help but smile as the image brought you back to the night before. You decided that it would make Al a lot more comfortable if you treated him the same as you did before. You two have grown close over the past few weeks and you didn't want to ruin that friendship with that awkward 'what are we talk'. Al has turned a little protective over you recently and your flirting and teasing was impossible to avoid. However, it was nothing more than that until last night. You two really were good friends. You could laugh together, cry together, and it never felt awkward. You never felt afraid around him and he never felt weak around you.

You showered and dressed yourself in a casual outfit. Some Jean shorts and a plain crop top. You figured your casual appearance may help ease any worries that Al may have. You put your lengthy hair into a messy bun and decided against any makeup for the day. You figured that the adventure of last night convinced Charlie that today would be a rest day.

As you lowered into the parlor, you saw the breakfast table set up again and grabbed yourself a plate. Husk and Niffty were the only ones in the parlor at this point so you decided to make another plate for Alastor. You've never really seen him eat breakfast before, but even if he didn't eat it, maybe the gesture would release any tension. Everyone eventually piled into the parlor except for Alastor.

"Has anyone seen Al?" You asked the group while looking up the stairs.

"No, he disappeared yesterday at the club, haven't seen him since then." Vaggie stated in between bites of waffles. You took both of your plates and walked upstairs to the demons door. You didn't want to push any boundaries so you just set the plate on the floor in front of his door and knocked gently. You walked away swiftly and as you rounded the corner you could hear his door unlock. Alastor looked around but you were already out of his view. He graciously took the plate and retreated back into his room.

Once you met the group down in the parlor, Charlie explained that she hadn't planned anything for today so we were all free to do whatever we wanted. Angel's boss called him in so he left shortly after this announcement, Charlie and Vaggie left to have a meeting with someone and Pentious returned to his room to build some sort of "contraption" as he phrased it. Husk and Niffty were offered the day off as well, but they didn't tell anyone where they were going, rather they just exited the hotel in silence. Once again, you and Alastor were left alone.

"Did I miss all the fun?" Alastor said as he appeared on the chair in the corner of the parlor.

"Nothing like that. It's a free day and everyone chose to go out for one thing or another." You explained with a soft smile and a little blush creeping up your face.

"I figured you'd be dying to get out of here since you've been stuck inside for so long." He explained, meeting your eyes and smiling bigger than ever before.

"Nowhere to go. I guess I could paint or something in my room." You explained, your smile slowly falling off your face.

"Hmmm. Well I will be around if you're in need of some company." Then he vanished back into his shadow. You were a little surprised that he chose not to mention the advances you made last night. However, you chose not to overstep any boundaries, maybe he is doing the same.

You spent the rest of your morning wandering the halls of the hotel. Even though you've been here for a few weeks, you have yet to actually see any part of the hotel besides the foyer, your, Charlie and Alastor's rooms, and now the pool. You finally reached the top floor where Charlie and Vaggies penthouse was. With nowhere else to go, you descended the staircase to retire back to your room.

You opened the door and looked out of your balcony to see an easel with some new paints laying next to an unopened canvas. There was a note next to it that read, "Paint me something." There was no name attached but it was no secret who left it for you. You picked up the brand new paint brush as you thought about what to paint. You wanted the painting to be meaningful, something he would actually enjoy. Your head popped up as you dipped your brush into the first color. It didn't take long to finish this piece, the image flowed out of you without any effort. You stood back to look at your finished piece. It was only 3:00 and you still had an entire day ahead of you. You wanted to greet Alastor and show him the project you had finished. You let the painting dry for a couple minutes and brought the artwork with you as you skipped down the hall to Alastor's door.

"What's that you got there?" A high pitched voice asked behind you. Your head turned around but kept the painting out of view as Angel walked towards you.

"Oh, um nothing. Just a little project." You said, trying to stop the blush from climbing up your cheeks.

"Let me see it! I won't judge!" He said as he tried to turn your painting over. You fought hard to hold it back but to no avail.

"Wait... is this? NO FUCKING WA—" Angel shouted but was cut off by your hand over his mouth. You gestured for him to follow you back to your room.

The door closed and you finally let Angel speak.
"This is you an Alastor... kissing? What the fuck is this about? Where you about to give it to him?" His voice was at a whisper. You felt like you had no other choice but to confess.

"It's not what it looks like. He encouraged me to paint something and last night I kissed him as a thanks for saving my ass. I was just trying to be a smart ass. Maybe make him blush a little bit." You were hoping that this was enough to convince the arachnid.

"YOU KISSED HI-" He was cut off by your hand again.

"Yes! Now please keep your voice down. No one knows and I don't want anyone else to know. It was just a gesture of gratitude." You explained.

"Well the blush on your face makes me think that this is more than a 'friendly kiss'." He said smirking at you.

"It was! This painting was just to ease some tension!" You said a little louder than you intended. Angel stood up and headed towards the door.

"Y/n, who are you trying to convince? Me or you?" He said before winking and closing the door behind him.
