Jesper POV
"Where's the other row boat." I asked Kaz as Inej, Kewi Kaz Rose, and I got into one. There wasn't enough room for Rose to sit in it so Kaz patted his lap once and Rose sat in it, leaning against him.
"Repairs." Kaz and Rose said at the same time. Rose glanced up at Kaz and smiled at him. I felt a pang of jealousy. How is it the bastard of the barrel found love and I'm still single. I rowed us to the island and we waited for Jan Van Erk to show up.

Kaz POV
Jan Van Erk arrived ten minutes after the meeting time. Typical. I assumed he would just to show his Statius.

"Because he'd rather cheat." Wylan said from Kewi's mouth. Only Jesper seemed shocked.
"Pay up Kaz." Wylan said to me.
"I do hate to lose a wager, call me sentimental but I didn't think a father would try to murder his own son." I said, shaking my head slightly.
"Ha ha This is great. See I told you guys he would blow up the boat! You owe me Wylan. You see Kaz Wylan and I all bet fifty Kruge for today and Wylan didn't believe me when I said you'd blow up the boat. He knew You'd kill him but he didn't think you'd blow up a boat when their might be other passenger's on board. But thank you Mister Erk. I am now 100 Kruge richer." Rose said beaming. She never beat me in bets so she was really happy about this one.
"Where is Kewi Yul Bo." Van Erk asked. His face red.
"Lost to the waters." Rose lied as she lowered her head.
"Leave this one alive." Van Erk said, pointing to Kaz. "Kill the rest." In that moment of threat Kaz and I both glanced at each other. So did Inej. "Scrap that get the girl." He said pointing at me. I guess he thought the crew would try harder to get me back than if he just kidnapped Kaz. Lovely. I thought as I grabbed an axe from my back and met my first opponent. A grisha tidemaker addicted to parem. I used my axe to wound it while shooting flame at it with my other hand. I felt my hands suddenly bound behind my back and than I squaller had me in his arm. I heard a shot and the Squaller dropped me. I was quickly picked up by another. I twisted around to try and kick it but it brought it's arm down hard on my head, sending me into the dark.
