I woke to the feeling of Kaz's cane in my side. "Rose time to get up." He told me, poking me again.
"Ten more minutes." I said tiredly, rolling over and hugging the pillow. He jabbed me again
"Now." He told me, standing over me. He went to jab me again but I swatted the cane away, not bothering to open my eyes. I felt the mattress shift as Kaz sat on the bed next to me. He bent over me and started to plant tiny kisses all over my face. He stopped abruptly and got up.
"Keep going." I moaned. Why did he always have to tease me?
"Get up." He replied. I got out of bed and walked towards him, wrapping my arms around him.
"Now you can keep going." I told him. He lowered his head and continued leaving kisses all over my face, each one giving me butterflies. I placed my hands in his hair and was playing with it. Once I thought I would go crazy he put his mouth to mine. Kaz backed me into the wall as the kiss got deeper. I sighed and he used the opportunity to put his tongue in my mouth. Suddenly the door opened and we broke apart, Jesper walking into the bedroom. In the time it took him to get there from the office I had crossed the room to the dresser and started rummaging through the drawers for a shirt.
"Ever hear of knocking?" Kaz asked, his usual cold personality sliding back into place. Beneath it all I could tell he was upset our moment had been ruined. "Get the crew together, we need to chat about a job." Kaz told Jesper, gesturing to the door. Jesper walked out leaving Kaz and I alone in the room.
"Why are our moments always ruined." I complained, putting my hair up in a ponytail. Kaz shrugged, coming up behind me in the mirror and grabbing the comb. We finished our hair and started for the door. I was about to open it when I felt a hand on my arm. I spun around to face Kaz.
"Because I can't do this for the rest of the day." Kaz told me before crashing his lips to mine. He backed me into the door. The kiss was full of passion and the anger I always felt lingering around him.
"Kaz." I moaned in the kiss, that just caused him to kiss me harder.
"Kaz we have to go." I whispered against his lips. He sighed and pulled back. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking out the door. Kaz followed after me, and we were no longer venerable. We both had our emotional shields on as we walked outside and across the street to the crow club. We walked into the meeting room and realized we were the last there.
"Why do we have to be here so early and they can just stroll in whenever they want." Nina complained taking a sip of her coffee.
"Because Nina love I am vary hard to get up in the morning." I told Nina, grabbing her coffee and taking a sip. I grimaced.
"Ew how dose anyone drink their coffee black." I complained grabbing a cup that had been left out for me and adding cream and sugar to it.
"It took me five minutes to get her up, and there's nothing wrong with black coffee." Kaz said.
"Says the one with the black heart." I retorted taking a sip of my coffee. Kaz reached over to take my cup out of my hand and as he did he whispered.
"You'll pay for that."
"Why is Wylan here? Rotty's the better demo man." Jesper piped up.
"Who our demo man is doesn't matter. We have a new job."
"What is it that you need six people for. Your six best crows at that?" Nina asked.
"What would you do with four million Kruge?" Kaz asked us. Everyone looked at us with wide eyes before Wylan whispered
"I'd start a new life."
"I'd be free." Inej responded
"I'd have at least two years of fun." Jesper siad
"I'd go to Ravka" Nina replied
"I'd get revenge." I responded.
"Great we all know what we'll spend it on, now we need to get it. Wylan do you have a pen and paper with you?" Kaz asked.
Wylan reached into his bag. "What do you need it for?" He asked.
"I need you to sketch the ice court based of of a description."

Kaz POV
It had taken me two hours to explain the job to everyone. It took me a half hour later to explain how we were going to get Helvar out of Hell gate. I had had to repeatedly jab Rose with my cane to keep her awake. She had swatted my cane away numerous times, her annoyance growing. Everyone filed out, going to complete their tasks before we started the Hell gate plan. Once Jesper had slammed the door shut in front of Wylan, Wylan throwing open the door and running to tell Jesper off, Rose turned to me.
"My side is sore thanks to you." she complained giving me a light punch on the arm.
"You think my heart is black do you?" I asked her, slowly coming towards her. She backed up till she felt the wall. I stopped right in front of her, placing my hand on the wall beside her and leaning against.
"Your lucky that you don't know what it feels like when my heart is black." I told her, allowing my lips to brush hers. She leaned into me, trying to kiss me, but I leaned back. I could have laughed at her expression. She huffed in annoyance and whispered.
"See you in Hell gate." As she walked out the door and swept it closed behind her. She left me alone in the room with many thoughts filling my mind. I finished her coffee and walked out after her. I'd see her soon, for now I could annoy the living shit out of people.
