Saints I wish Rose was here. I thought as I lowered the rope for Wylan. I was the cripple and yet the merchling couldn't even climb into a window. I stepped back as Wylan used the weevil to break open the safe.

I heard guns cocking all around us as I glared at Pekka, the man who had taken everything from me. I got him to start talking about his deal with Van Erk as I discreetly grabbed a bomb from Wylan's satchel.
"I've got a surprise for your Phantom Brekker. For her and the rest of your crew. " I froze and my jaw set.
"If my crew isn't in tip top shape by the end of this night I will destroy you Rollins." I seethed, a silent fire burning in my gaze.
"I doubt that Brekker. Both of those things. You see I sent a grisha after your Phantom. Rare girl. She controls lightning. Your Phantom is dead by now. I threw the bomb on the floor and it gave way into the dining room. I grabbed Wylan and ran out of Van Erk's house. I nedded to get to Rose and I needed to get to her now.

I walked as fast as I could towards an alley. I heard a scream and quickened my pace.
"Where's - Kaz? Nina- please- I need -to -- see him." I heard Rose say.
"I'm right here Rose." I told her, kneeling down next to her. She smiled and winced. I glanced down to her side and saw a knife sticking out of it. No no no. Please no. I felt her hand graze my cheek and I looked at her, allowing my pain to show on my face for once.
"I love you." I whispered as her eyes fluttered shut. "Can't you do anything?" I asked Nina, turning to her.
"I can't feel anyone's heartbeats. There's nothing." She replied. I ran my hands through my hair in frustration. I picked her up and carried her to the hotel Colm Fahey was staying at. I laid her on the bed gently and sat next to her. I was not leaving her side ever again.
