Pass-Through Fire

A day after Vox Machina left the tomb and got the first vestige, Keyleth picked up a stick from the ground and carried a stack of sticks. She then feels a small gust of wind causing her to zone out.

Percy and Vax were setting branches by a cave, while Pike gathered more wood, and Scanlan, Vex, and Trinket sat around the burning campfire Ren continued to fuel.

Vex: And then, whoosh! I was alive again. It really puts life in perspective you know? I feel more grown, more mature.

Pike: Eh, you feel more mature.

Vex: I'm gonna take that as a compliment. *Places a stick onto Pike's stack* Because of how mature I am. Vax gets it. *Looks at Vax* Right brother?

Vax: Sure... A whole new perspective.

Vax continues to tie the branches together as Percy suddenly gets hit in the head by a falling branch. Everyone looks up to see Keyleth just standing there. Not moving.

Ren: Uh Key, you alright there?

Keyleth didn't respond.

Pike: Keyleth.

Keyleth snaps from her daze causing her to accidentally drop the branches.

Keyleth: Shoot...

Keyleth bends down and begins to pick up the branches.

Ren: Is something wrong?

Keyleth: No. It's nothing.

Keyleth walks down to join the others and once she does, she tosses the branches away.

Keyleth: It's just, we're so close to Pyrah.

Percy: Is that where you're from?

Keyleth: No, I'm an Air Ashari, the Fire Ashari lives there. Guarding the rift to the Fire Plane. It was one of the last places my... Mom was seen alive... On her Aramenté.

Keyleth says as she looks down saddened.

Ren: Oh, Keyleth... I'm so sorry.

Pike: If we're close to Pyrah maybe we should go.

Vax: I'd like to but the people of Tal'Dorei are depending on us.

Keyleth: N-No, yo-you're right. It's fine, I-I didn't mean to- I'm gonna go look for more wood.

Keyleth walks away causing Ren to look at the others.

Ren: I'll go check on her.

Ren then takes off his helmet as he stands up.

Ren: *Give his helmet to Percy* Hold this.

Ren then leaves to find Keyleth as everyone watches him while looking at the back of his head.

Pike: Does anybody else find it weird to see Ren without his helmet even more?

Percy/Vax/Vex/Scanlan: Yes.

[With Keyleth]

Keyleth continues picking up some branches, but suddenly, her foot slips on the snow causing her to fall backward.

Keyleth: Shit!

Before she hits the ground someone catches her. Keyleth sees Ren without his helmet on. He gives her a light smile causing her to blush.

Ren: You alright?

Keyleth: Ye-Yeah... Tha-Thanks for catching me.

Ren helps Keyleth up then she begins to crouch to pick up her branches which Ren helps her.
