The maid sector of the palace was chaotic from the morning.

It was after all the gauna of the eldest Baisa of Rajputana.

The whole village would be there by the time of the Gauna to see the rituals and to see the princess of the land.

"Shefali did not bring the flowers today, Aai?"

Tara asked preparing the thali for puja.

"Did she not?"

Aai asked making the flower garland of her share.

Tara shook her head in disapproval.

Aai frowned.

She had not got time to go to Shefali in the morning.

Probably due to the workload last day, she was too tired and ended up sleeping for longer than usual. Being late than she should have been, Aai did not waste a single more second.

"I'll check after I'm done"

Aai whispered, frowning.

"No need, I'll go"

Tara said, dipping her hand in water and whipping off the water in her dupatta.

Aai did not protest.

She had a lot of duties today and she did not want any such dealings today like yesterday. She wanted everything to be perfect and she was determined to not let Shefali out in the crowd especially until Dadi-sa stayed back.

She knew Shefali would argue to see something of a new sort today when the possession would be going on but she would somehow manage to keep her away from their selfish eyes.

"Aai!"

Tara shouted breathing heavily, leaning against the wall.

"What happened?"

Aai asked and so did the others.

"Shakti said she had not seen Shefali from the morning"

Tara exclaimed.

"She must be on the terrace, watching the town"

Aai said smiling back at her flowers.

"She is not there"

Tara replied.

Aai's frown was back on her face.

"Is it possible that she ran away?"

Tara asked and the needle stuck Aai's finger.

Aai gasped slightly and sucked her blood immediately out of habit.

She stood up in a disturbed way.

"Shefali won't run away"

Aai said walking out of the kitchen and then stopping to reconsider.

"Would she?"

She asked.

"Shefali?"

They all turned their heads to the advancing Ekta.

Aai was terrified, slightly.

She ran to Ekta and held her palms.

Ekta was stunned at the sudden approach.

"Have you seen Shefali?"

Aai asked.

Ekta frowned.

"Is she not here?"

She asked instead.

She was originally here to see if Shefali was okay after yesterday's injury. She was also planning to congratulate Shefali and let her know, what she did yesterday was so brave of her.
