(7 Months Later)

Udaipur was amid a crisis.

The whole of the estate was mourning the loss of its king, the beloved of all, Raja Rajpaal Chauhan.

Bindiya and Rani-sa had seen this day coming for over a month now with the increase in his heart turbulence. He had turned weaker than he had ever been before.

"It has been three days, Chauhan. You must buckle up now"

Rani-sa who had turned numb on the day her attire changed forever, has now come to a coordination with reality.

She had stopped calling Eshant 'Chote Chauhan' now. He wasn't after all the young Chauhan anymore.

"Ofcourse"

Eshant said half-heartedly, walking out through the back door of the inner palace.

It felt very disturbing to him to sit on the throne his father sat on for as long as he could remember, now belonged entirely to him. Isn't it too inhumane to sit on the throne just three days after his demise?

The crowning ceremony was held today in broad daylight but Shefali could not be there.

It felt like a crime to go on with the ceremony in her absence but the crucial kingdom affairs cannot wait. The eastern border of the estate is always under war. In this condition, emptying the throne won't be a wise thing to do.

"Shefali?"

He called as soon as he entered the palace.

The three maids who were in the palace quickly walked out as soon as they heard his voice. These days the palace was maintained every day under strict commands of the new Queen Consort, Shefali.

The dim light of the lantern he held wavered slightly while he walked up the stairs.

The room to his chamber was open and he could see her sitting on the bedside, laying back on the wall behind.

A shawl covered her bulged belly.

"You are back early"

She said, trying to sit up properly.

"Then why did it feel so lengthy to me?"

He said with a smile, putting the lamp on the bedside table.

"How was the ceremony?"

She asked.

"Nothing special"

He replied sitting beside her.

"How is the one here?"

He asked, caressing her tummy slightly with a toothy smile.

"Calm for now"

Shefali said with a smile, keeping her hand over his.

"It still smelled like him, the throne I was asked to sit on"

He said all of a sudden, his eyes fighting a silent battle.

"He'd be proud to see you take his place..."

Shefali said, her voice cracking.

Shefali had very rarely seen tears in his eyes but when he cried, she could not control her share of tears either. She did not know how to console him.

"I doubt he would"

He said, his eyes letting go of a tread of tears.

"Don't be silly"

Shefali whispered, her grip tightening on his hand.

"He loved you like no other, I have seen his last stare turn to you. A sight of relief, it looked like"
