As they kept advancing, they found the other women were still standing inside the curtain in the corner of the huge hall room.

It was quite strange for Shefali to be called here in the court so suddenly. As far as she knew, this was not what mostly happened here. Women were never called upon at all, especially not the royal women.

They stopped a few steps before the throne's stairs.

"The court is dismissed"

Rana says and the kingsmen walk out slowly after bowing to him.

"Baba, did you call us?"

Ekta asked when everyone else had already left.

"I did"

He nodded.

The women slowly walked out of the curtain.

"We just received a letter from Rana Maldev of the Chandravanshi clan"

Rana explained.

"I think it's a privilege that he wants our Ekta to be married to him"

Rana said and Ekta's head immediately turned to the floor in disbelief.

"Rana Maldev?"

Devansh asked.

Rana nodded proudly.

"Isn't he a bit too old to get married?"

Devansh frowned.

Rana sighed hard.

Shefali turned to Bindya who looked at Rana without words coming out of her rigid mouth.

"Ekta, you may leave now"

Rani-sa said, not wanting her to be in the conversation because it was her marriage that was being talked about.

Ekta's hand tightened on Shefali's wrist.

"No, let her be"

Rana said politely looking at Ekta.

"I don't understand, it has been ages since his wife died why does he want to marry anyone now?"

Eshant stood up with a frown.

"I don't know but putting his wish down would mean his disrespect and I cannot allow that"

Rana said.

Ekta's grip tightened.

Shefali swallowed.

"It's very clear, Baba. He wants to get hold of a part of our kingdom through dowry"

Devansh slammed the wall lightly.

"He might but he won't receive any"

Rana concluded looking away from the faces.

"The royal property is only destined to be given to the royal infants"

So it's an advantage that I am not pure royal blood to even Baba? Ekta was in grave disbelief.

Rana concluded and Ekta looked back at Rana with a tiny tear rolling down her cheek.

"Our Ekta is a grown woman now. If not today, she will be married off tomorrow but with the growing age the options start getting narrower"

Rna explained.

Rani-sa nodded hastily.

"No"

Ekta whispered.

"None of you ever tried to get me married, never! I was never a member here. Haven't I always been a prostitute's daughter who is not pure enough to be married off? Then why now all of a sudden you are so eager to marry me off to a man your age, Baba?"
